Day 55 Promise 513 John 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou do, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind blows where it lists, and thou hear the sound thereof, but cannot tell whence it comes, and whither it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Most people believe that when they die, they will go to heaven. Jesus told Nicodemus he must be born again to enter the kingdom of God. He can only do that through the Holy Spirit. As Christians, you know your eternal destination is heaven because you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Whether it took a long time for you to accept Jesus or a short time, it was through the conviction of the Holy Spirit who led you to faith in Jesus. It is only faith in Jesus that brings salvation and eternal life in heaven. It isn’t good works, being a good, kind person, or going to church every Sunday. Only faith in Jesus Christ gives you eternal life. Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (KJV) Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (KJV) You can’t be good enough to get to heaven. Faith in Jesus is your only hope of salvation. Let’s pray: Father, let faith in Jesus rise up in me as I go about my daily life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 2 October 2020 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

I do find that hard to believe. That any person, no matter how evil, will go to Heaven if they have faith in Jesus. Was Hitler an avowed Christian?

There's nothing that says he was a Christian. Jesus also told the people that though they acted good, or had faith in Him if they didn't practice their faith, He would still turn them away. He said Christians would be known by their fruit. Hitler didn't show any fruit or act like a Christian. Even I don't believe he's in heaven.
