Here is a trivia series featuring songs with the word "Baby" in its title. Now, were not talking about the crying kind, nope, were talking about that beloved person you want as part of your life. The one you call "Your Baby."
And today's songs are all about that love for your spouse or girlfriend. Yep, the one you are truly proud of...
So, let's get this love affair started with an overly emotional tribute to that special someone. Or as Peter Frampton does in this song, laying the compliments on a bit thick,
Can you really be that overdramatic when describing your baby? Take a listen and see...
Now time to name those songs and artists who thought the world of their "Baby."
Whodunnit?
1. A great classic this baby song from 1959 reached #2 on the Hot 100 charts and #1 on the R&B hit list. The lead singer on this tune was none other than Ben E. King who later had his own solo hit with "Stand By Me" which was a #1 charter. Although the song title seems to indicate a happy boyfriend showing off his girl, the tune is a sad reflection on why his lover has gone and left him. With lyrics like "My baby's movin' on down the line, Wonder where, wonder where, wonder where she is bound?" And "I wonder why she left me," "Why did she leave me so all alone," its clear they have broken up for good. This R&B vocal group had a string of hits in the 60's including "Up On The Roof," "Under The Boardwalk," and "Save The Last Dance For Me." If you think of a word meaning snow which piles up really high you've got the name of this group.
-Can you figure out the name of this R&B/Soul group and their "Baby" titled song?
2. The song was recorded by this performer in 1948 for a film called "Easter Parade." In the tune's lyrics the singer is excited to be going out on the town with his girl on a date. He is so happy to see his honey he can hardly contain himself because he is in love. The singer hints that this "could be the night" he proposes marriage to her. This song was performed as a dance number in the film, as this artist was not only an actor but a stylish dancer. This artist's costar in Easter Parade was Judy Garland, not Ginger Rogers, with whom he co-starred in a series of ten Hollywood musicals. In the film "Blue Skies" in which he co-starred with Bing Crosby, this dancer popularized a Irving Berlin song called "Puttin On The Ritz," where he danced solo with just a cane. The tune became widely associated with this performer. Yes, this Hollywood icon could really "Step it Out" when he takes the dance floor.
-Do you know the name of the baby song and name of this actor/dancer extraordinaire?
3. Bonus- The song title in #2 above was also recorded in 1993 by a famous Italian singer who is friends with Lady Gaga. This performer has a special fondness for the "city of San Francisco."
-Do you know the name of this famous Italian crooner who sang with a Jazz style?
Ok, no "baby tantrums" trying to come up with some correct song and artist answers. Remember, "Baby" is part of the song title. If your stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or as the artist James Taylor might say, "You've Got A Friend" if you need some help.
Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! Until next Saturday...

These are getting tougher. The dancer -- Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly? I should know this one.
The only one I'm sure of is the bonus -- Tony Bennett...and I'm probably wrong with that.
Help! ... before I throw a baby tantrum!
