Water And Fire Can Damage Anything.

Because of the pandemic I had stopped using my digital wrist watch for the past 6 months. But how long was I going too, so I wore it yesterday, it feels good when wore. After returning home instead of removing it right away I chose to wash my hands, the watch was tagged waterproof so I wasn't worried. Nothing seemed wrong at that moment until today morning I realised that the digits are not displaying properly. 7 seems like 1 and 3 looks like opposite C. At first felt that it must be because of me not using the watch for long but it was different. I opened the back case and realised that it was water damaged with just one hand wash. The watch was hardly used so it was very disappointing. Just have to remember water and fire can damage anything no matter how resistant anything is, right?

A change of battery may help as @LadyDuck has suggested. If it doesn't help, you can take the watch to a watchmaker to have it cleaned.

If it was declared waterproof, washing hands cannot have damaged it.

I will try the battery change as Anna said, I don't know if digital watches can be repaired but will get it confirmed.

It can be the battery, change the battery and I think it will be fine. It happens all the time when the battery is low to my clock and watches.

@nitirrbb7 That is a shame since you have not worn it for so long and then finally decided to put it on and that happens.

Unfortunately, if it is burned, the warranty will not apply even though it is clearly written as waterproof but it is not.

Yeah and I was too late to know that it wasn't waterproof, I should have dropped it in water right away when it had arrived, Amazon had a 10 days return policy on it.

I’m so Sorry your new watch was damaged. I guess the answer is to take off your watch before hand washing.

It was mentioned as water resistant when sold so I thought a little bit of water wouldn't make any difference. Now I am much carefully, we do learn things but sometimes its the hard way around.

I am sorry to hear tour watch isn't working properly after being soaked. I have bought items before that say they were water resistant, however I never dared to expose them to water, just to prevent!

That's right. We need water and fire in our life. But when fire and water grow they will be our opponents. For example fire and flood due to water.

Sorry to know about your watch. I know they say waterproof but some might not be. Better to use sanitizer for them. I do that for my mobile and wrist watch when I go out.

Oh no, now it's possible my friend. If that device is waterproof then it must give resistance against water, but you saying it damaged. Are you complaint ?
