They're just not practical home decor

spiral staircase

I love looking at images on home and lifestyle blogs or in magazines. I often like pictures of rooms with a spiral staircase. But I don't think I would ever build a staircase like that for my own home. It looks nice in a photograph. But I don't think it's very practical. What I'm saying is … suppose I have to run out of my house in a hurry? I don't want to have to run in circles. I want to be able to run straight down the steps and if necessary I want to be able to dive down a flight of stairs if I have to! LOL. Rosy Grier did it! He dived down a flight of stairs and landed on top of Sirhan Sirhan, the guy who shot Bobby Kennedy. He thwarted the assassin's escape. Can you imagine how different the historical accounts of that day would read if the staircase in that hotel had been a spiral staircase? Spiral staircases look nice but they are just not practical. Just sayin'. Do you like spiral staircases?

They are pretty to look at, but I wouldn't want one in my house either.

I love the look of them as well, but I think I'd get dizzy just trying to go up and down them. Now if it was a slide, I might like that.

I do not like spiral staircases, but in small houses they take a lot less space.

Yes, they are beautiful but I wouldn´t want it in my own home. I might be sleepwalking again and you can just imagine how I will fly down in those spiral stairs.

I do and you wouldn't get hurt as bad if you fell on the stairs though cause the turn would catch and stop you from falling as far I think.

We once had a choice between buying a new house with a spiral staircase and one with a straight staircase. We chose the "straight" option on the grounds that getting furniture up the stairs would be much more difficult with a spiral. We might have been wrong about this, but that was certainly what we thought at the time.

I remember I was at someone's house and they had a spiral staircase. I was not a fan of going up and down that thing. And if there was an emergency I'd probably hurt myself trying to go up or down those stairs in a hurry.

Sometimes I feel the homes are not really livable unless you have staff to look about it!

They're very decorative; but I wouldn't want to have to walk up and down one.

I also don't like spiral staircases. But some builders are now implementing it (of course, it is in different style than what it is presented in your photo). As other say, it takes less space.

Such staircases only look good in the picture, certainly not in our own home
