It's Getting To Be a Full House

After we moved to Texas, my daughter and grand daughter decided to move her as well. They have been with us for 2 yrs now and things were good. Over the winter my daughter decided she wanted to bring two more children into the house and we welcomed them in June.
These are two little boys who happen to be my grand daughters brothers from her father. Their lives were tough where they were and she couldn't stand to see how they were living. They needed a place to go and so she said she would take them.
Our family of 4 has grown to 6 and things have been hectic, challenging and overall great. We do have a lot of issues to get through with them but I think in the end it will be very rewarding. We are so glad to have them here and to give them the home they deserve.
Have you ever brought someone else's children into your home to give them a better life?

I have not taken in anyone at this point, but that's not to say I wouldn't in the future. Children deserve a loving home.

@moffittjc Thanks but when my daughter brought it up, there was no other choice. I am glad they are here and we just found out that the courts granted permanent rights to them. My daughter can start adoption in Jan, we are so grateful

Thank you Hanni, we are having problems with the little one. He needs more help then we can give him and its heart breaking. He steals so badly and lies, he has even been kicked out of his kindergarten room till the end of the year now and will sit in the principals office until school ends this year. He is just so damaged from his parents and we may have to put him in a facility so they can retrain and try to help him. I am sick over it but we have done our best with him for a year and its just not helping. We won't give up on him though and will keep on trying.

@sallypup Dementia is a hard thing to deal with, I worked with the elderly for 2 yrs and it takes so much patience. My mom is going through that as well and she has been with my sister for 3 mths now, she says she needs a break before she snaps at my mom. I wish I could take her but she won't come to Texas.

I have sponsored children but not brought them in my house. Well I grew up in a joint family and we had three generations staying together under a roof. I have fond memories of big family.

@cintol Well a huge family comes with its own share of pros and cons. It is fun but can be chaotic too. But definitely we learn to live in harmony with so many and learn many life skills.

@cintol Those boys were born into this kind of hard life.
With their experience they have a bigger life perspective.
I hope they go up to become good parents. Your daughter gives them the fair chance for it.

Their life has been one of living in cars, going house to house and sleeping on couches and floors, hotels, etc. They have never been in one home and the oldest one never got to finish a full year of school. Here they have their bedroom, all their own things and are both in school. The oldest was so excited because he got invited to a birthday party, he has never been to one.

@stringer321 They have been through things children should never have to live, we are hoping to give them the life they deserve so they will grow to be productive adults and wonderful parents. Thank you

I understand that, I raised my 3 as a single mom. Thank you but I wasn't going to watch these two boys go into foster care, they have already had a crappy life.

@JESSY3236 I understand that reasoning, I am sorry you grew up like that. That makes it hard on a child

You are very compassionate and kind mother and grandmother-- providing a home for the homeless and the orphans.
Do your daughter and granddaughter help out financially? With rent, utilities and food? Bless your generous heart.

Thank you and yes, my daughter helps with the bills and groceries so we work together as a team to take care of these boys. Their parents rights were just terminated and we have them full time now and my daughter will be able to start adoption of them in Jan. We are so happy to be able to give them the home and the love they deserve

@everwonderwhy Thank you, it has been a struggle as the little one has many bad habits that need to be broken and he is very destructive. We are making progress with him though as he just had his first birthday with us and turned 6. His brother is 9 and my grand daughter is 12. I have 12 other grandkids besides these which range between 5 and 21.

@cintol A beautiful story, Cindy. It's hard and filled with struggles, but I admire your resolve and perseverance. Bless the work of your hands as you and your daughter provide a happy and secure home. How old are your grandchildren?

We haven't really. Not something my mom would welcome unless it's my brother's family.
