I feel like one of the biggest issues those of us who read have when our favorite books are turned into movies is that it's seldom done the way we'd like. We end up criticizing the movie more than enjoying it.
Another issue I have is sometimes I'll watch a movie not knowing it was a book and then be mad I didn't read the book first. I'm both a book and movie lover so I have this never-ending battle with myself about which I'd rather be doing. I have gone back through after seeing a movie to read a book because I didn't realize it was a book until after the fact and then it's really not the same. I haven't read a good book in a while and I keep meaning to get back into reading but I haven't really been able to with so much going on in my mind lately it makes it hard to focus. It's slightly easier to focus on movies but even that isn't as easy as it once was.
Sometimes the best books get the worst movies. I hate seeing Hollywood ruin a great book because people will see the movie and not read the book and they'll think the book is horrible when in reality it's amazing. People often don't realize how much better a book can be than the movie version of it. Hollywood often cuts out some of the best parts of a book or will change relationships within the movie to make it more interesting for the audience but it also changes the dynamic of the story. I understand Hollywood needs to draw in an audience and they can't make a movie eight hours long to make sure they don't miss anything in a book but I hate when they take creative licenses and ruin a good story.
