Panic buying of alcohol

I am staring at the three bottles of alcohol my husband bought several months ago. He actually bought 5 bottles. And now, we still have three.
So, I cannot understand those who buy a cartful of alcohol, unless of course they will sell it to others, which is pure greed.
Am just wondering if hoarding alcohol is still everyone's business around the world.
How about in your country?

Liquor stores have been labelled as "essential" and kept open during these past 16 rounds of "15 Days To Flatten the Curve," because liquor is taxed.
Liquor stores are also among the first places broken into, burglarized, looted, and set on fire when "peaceful protests" - um, I mean riots are started.
Some people like to have liquor on hand. Others give the liquor away as gifts.
Perhaps people are hoarding liquor in the USA now in fear of more "peaceful protests" - um, I mean riots after our Presidential election.
Either that, or they want to stock up in case Biden - um, I mean Harris (or is it Pelosi) becomes President, and the liquor tax gets even higher.

Supply is stable nowadays. Demand has tapered off a bit as well.

I think it's a punishable offense to hoard these and sell later
