Good afternoon from this side of planet. . I am happy to make post here after a day. Could not be much here yesterday as a lot of offline obligations needed my attention.
Wednesday started as usual like a regular working Wednesday. Good sign was that we had no rain in morning. Though it's cloudy and gloomy but no rain so far. I did one load of towels and napkins and they are drying in shade. I wish there was some sun but anyway a break from continuous rain since Saturday afternoon itself is quite welcome
I worked non stop from 8-11:15 in the morning. And then I have a break till 2 followed by a 45 minutes session. That's it for the day at school for today.
Today is last day that my children and husband can have non veg. Then they we have to wait till 27 of this month. And after that too in a week or more we will have our auspicious month starting where we don't have non veg. It's does not matter to me as I am a vegetarian by choice.
But my daughters and husband wanted to have chicken for lunch. And today I made this spicy chicken tikka masala for them. You can see it in picture.
It looks yummy and the house is full of its aroma. . I made basmati rice and chapati, cucumber salad to go with it. For my vegetarian self, I made mushroom masala and spicy potato stuffed bell peppers ( fresh from my garden).
Well I spent a good one and half hours preparing this meal. But guess we have enough to save me from making dinner.
They will be done in 10 minutes and join for lunch. If they don't I will dig in as my session starts in another half an hour.
I have a plan to spend some good time here in the afternoon
Enjoy mylotting. Stay safe and healthy in your corner

@nawala123 Yes. It's supposed to be spicy but if you are not fond of spicy food you can add spices as per your taste.

@arunima25 Thank you for explaining your religious habits. I am Catholic, we used not to eat meat on Friday, but now I am over 65 so I can eat what I want every day of the week.
We eat very little beef, we eat fish two or three times a week, chicken a couple of times a week and once a week we have a soup and cheese.

It's for religious belief. Though some continue eating even in this period and even offer it to God. There are different cultures here.We don't eat non veg ( including eggs) on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. That's our religious belief.. From Friday we have Navratri puja starting for ten days that ends in Dussehra. We don't have non veg during those days. There are auspicious months and weeks when we don't have non veg including eggs.
How about you?? You don't take animal meat??

@LadyDuck Oh! I see. One of my friend here is a Catholic. She too does not take non veg on Fridays but her husband and children have it every day. Actually she is a regular church goer while husband and kids show no interest in going for Sunday prayers.

That's almost 12 days before you will have your veggies. Ours we don't have a problem. We can have them everyday for we are near the public market. Veggies are sold there everyday.

We won't have non veg including eggs for next 12 days due to religious reason. We will have our veggies regularly. We have a store in our premise that gets fresh veggies everyday and the organic veggies vendor gets it twice a week. So we have access to fresh veggies everyday.

@Nakitakona Yes. It's not a strict restriction. Many don't follow it. Hinduism is liberal and people follow rituals as per their culture and belief.

Your chicken tikka masala looks yummy. We also had chicken for lunch today. My wife prepared it without oil adding some coconut to it. It was quite good. We are also veg from tomorrow being Thursday, Friday being New moon day and Navratri from Saturday. Our next non veg would be on 27th.

It's the same reason here. As such also I don't cook non veg on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Your chicken preparation sounds healthy and delicious. Even I cook my food in less oil. This one too was cooked on low flame with less oil.

@arunima25 Actually home-made dish is far better than a restaurant or packaged foods. I am amazed that you are vegan but still cook non-veg. I am sure your chicken tikka masala must be surely very delicious.

@arunima25 I do hope you get sun soon. I don't mind a few cozy rainy days at all, but prefer sunshine in my life.
Thanks for explaining your traditions. I love to learn about your culture!

@DianneN Today is a bright sunny daySo as soon as I got up I did two loads of laudry and now two more curtains are happy and smiling
I did not want to take any chance as many nearby places are having crazy rains and are flooded.
So do the laundry while the sun shines

We are fed up of rain. Last 4 days sun has not shown up.
It's a religious thing. We don't eat on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. And from Friday our big celebration of Navaratri puja and Dussehra begins for 10 days. We don't eat during that period. Many Hindus eat during that time and even offer meat and fish to Goddess. So it depends on our belief and also cultural background.

The sauce looks thick, isn't it spicy? Is it eaten with rice, or bread?

@Heelman82 We have varieties of rice here. In Indonesia I tasted jasmine rice and liked it.
Indian foods are generally spicy. We are land of spices and our weather suits us to have spices and herbs.
This dish is delicious and a favorite among chicken lovers.

@arunima25 I am not sure, is Indian rice the same as rice in my country Indonesia? But spicy food always arouses the appetite, whatever the important food is spicy, it must be delicious, surely the rice is out a lot.
