Came across this beautiful basket, and it just spoke my name! It is huge, and a masterpiece of craftsmanship, if you care about baskets. Funny, it happened to catch my eye just as I was wondering where on earth I was going to store 60 lbs of potatoes from the garden. Well, no problem, it’s so big they only managed to fill it halfway.
Where did it come from though? This extraordinary basket is quite rare, and must be about 100 years old. Apparently it was made in Asia, and used by floating it( see how closely it is woven?) and collecting reeds to make baskets and other useful things. I’m sure the skilled basket maker never dreamed it would end up in Canada, holding potatoes, and being admired so often by me!
Y’all have a wonderful day!
