Just a galah doing his morning exercises

We stayed in the caravan park in Tom Price, a mining town in Western Australia’s north. In the morning, a pink and grey galah was busy doing his morning gymnastics near our caravan and Vince shot these photos.
The galah was mostly doing somersaults round and round the wire. Two others were watching from a nearby post. He knew Vince was watching him and he seemed to be putting on an act for the camera. At least, by doing this, he shows off his lovely colours.
Doesn’t he look as though he is having fun?

@JudyEv a bit'n the destructive side, eh? most sad 'em bein' kept's pets, that confinement... glad such's slowly changin'. i oft wonder how humans 'd feel if'n the same 'twas done to 'em? interestin' though they make good talkers. do ya know offhand how long they live? i know many talkin' birds 've great longevity. which's good'n bad. many times the 'owners' pass 'n the family doesn't wish to care fer 'em. they end'p either'n horrible conditions 'r 't rescues'n display.

@crazyhorseladycx You are right. They do live for quite a long time; about 30 years in the wild but usually more in captivity.

They have been known to cut through phone lines with their beaks and of course they're deadly in orchard areas. They are popular as pets and usually make good talkers. I hate to see them in the tiny cages that they are often kept in although that seems to be slowly changing.

@JudyEv I am fascinated to watch animals having fun. Cats can stay still for very long time if they try to catch a bird. I watched the cat of my neighbor under the birds feeder yesterday. I was working in the kitchen, he stayed there not moving for almost a full hour.

What great pictures! We don't have any birds like this here in Ohio.

This bird is very beautiful, I remember the first time I took care of the bird, its funny behavior made me laugh to myself. But this bird likes to bite with its beak and very painful bites, I have been bitten several times.

@Alandalus99 This is their natural habitat. We see great flocks of them from time to time. This tree is full of corellas which are the white cockatoos.

It was no trouble to him at all. He kept up his antics for quite some time.
