Doomsday

This morning I walked with my best friend. She is not a walker. Instead she prefers spinning and kickboxing and has done it once or twice a day, every day, for years and years.
I talked her into to walking with me at the crack of dawn. We wore masks and socially distanced for 1 1/2 hours, and had lots of fun on the trails where we walked. She kept telling me that she hoped she wouldn’t fall and break a leg. Laughed we did!
Well, she went home to shower and slipped on her bathroom floor. She is in the hospital with two broken wrists and a chipped front tooth. Her husband called us with the doomsday news.
We ordered dinner for him tonight from our favorite restaurant. Nothing else we can do for now except sit tight.

Oh no!!! I guess she isn't likely to join you on a walk again! I would walk with you if I were closer...but hmm 7 miles might do me in! I'd do 5.

Two broken wrists, how terrible!! Your best friend will heal up, but this is awful after the nice walk you took together:( The broken tooth, a dentist will fix it, as nice as before.

@DianneN She will be at home soon, I'm sure of that. One wrist would be terrible, but both of them? I hate to imagine how hard that will be!

@kobesbuddy I know! She will certainly need help with so many things we take for granted.

God my God. I am so sorry yo hear about this Dianne. We all have to be careful when getting out of the shower, and stepping on wet surfaces. I really hope she gets well soon. It was so sweet of you to order your friend's husband dinner. I'd also like to say as your bracelet as your ring that you wore in the picture are beauftul and very tasteful!

You are so right! It's amazing how much we need our hands to do things, even simple every day tasks.
Her husband is our friend, too, so it was our pleasure. It's hard to do much else with the pandemic.
Leave it to you to notice the jewelry! lol. I hope your second day of work went well.

Oh, how awful. You spend your life doing everything you are supposed to and then this happens. I wish her well... and hugs too!

Now that is tragic. Oh, my, I cannot imagine two broken wrists. I have a bum knee and every time I go into my bathroom I walk like a turtle because the linoleum is slippery and I hold onto the walls when I get in and out of the tub. I will put her in my prayers. BTW from the photo, you two almost look like sisters,

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry for your friend, but I know that we feel accidents. When I was 6 and we were vacationing up in the Dolomite mountains with my parents, every day I said "I do not want to break my arm, I do not want to wear a cast...". Well, I broke my elbow the last day, we were waiting for a taxi to go to the train station to go back home.

@DianneN I needed surgery and my elbow has never been as strong as it was before the accident. It hurts when the weather changes, that is pretty often.
I am so sorry for your friend, at least I was young, but it took a lot of time before I could use my arm again.
