A Certain Guilt.

After a week of continuous downpours, my yard was filled with twigs and brown leaves. So, I called the local tree cutters to trim my aratelis, guava, mango and calamansi.
After the huge branches were cut, I exclaimed, 'Finally, I saw the skies and clouds again!'
And the noon sun penetrated into my kitchen. But, as I slouched into the couch, enjoying the natural light and cheer, I heard the sound of angry birds. Only then did I realize that the birds were crying because their nests were gone.
Hu hu.

@eileenleyva l am pretty sure they will be back when nature restores back what was taken. l am pretty sure that those birds will be able to build another home somewhere safe.

Yes, I did. How thoughtless of me! I should have one tree trimmed every other week. But it's been done and I must recompense for my thoughtlessness. I threw a handful of grains for the birds to eat. Then, I was happy to see butterflies and moths, bugs like lady bugs but a bit bigger and grey, and spiders. Arranged the potted plants in a way where the insects could take shelter.
Whispered to the birds to fly to the two mango trees two houses away, and an avocado tree. None compares to the serenity within my hedge though. I know the birds will come back.

@rsa101 Yes, nature has a natural way of restoring the beauty of creation.
Just that, I wondered also if there were birds on the wings that I inadvertently killed. I need to mortify for that.
Thank you for your soothing advice. Made me feel a little better.

Oh no that must have been a horrible feeling, but at-least you shouldn't feel too guilty because it was not intentional

I offered rice right away, to make peace with the birds. Plus, my daughter made a thicket, so they could have shelter when it rains.
Thank you. It was a horrible feeling, as you say.

Yes, it is very sad for the birds.
And then a grasshopper, or preying mantis, found it's way into my wreck room. I suppose the green hopper lost its home, too. Hu hu.
