Reluctant Veggie growing 2020

Some of the gathered veggies. Ah yes, that was a good meal!

It was a beautiful summer once the rain decided to stop. This was the year I was not planning to grow veggies. I planned to just pick them up from the farmers market, and I would only have to do my thing with the saffron plants that have taken over most available growing space in the raised beds. Things didn’t turn out that way! The market closed due to Covid, and at this point I quickly ordered big fibre pots, filled them with nice rich compost and started growing the veggies we love. It was worthwhile. Now it’s all about planning for 2021. It can be frustrating when your life is turned upside down by these circumstances. My biggest frustration is not being able to hug friends and extended family. What is yours?

I grow vegetables every year, just because they taste better than those I buy. We are only my husband and I, we are not too much frustrated. We miss inviting some friends.

such a beautiful bounty! i knew i'd much to do with the lands so'd not pre-planned gardenin' here. knew the time'd not be sufficient. when 'it' hit i found that gettin' seeds 'twas near 'mpossible. couldn't e'en order 'em 'nline. relied'n those i'd saved from prior years. which started out well, 'til the ferals slept'n said pots. no 'ttempts to prevent such useful, e'en the poky wire didn't deter. what came'p 'twas devoured by grasshoppers. 'xcept fer the maters 'n the 'volunteers'. will be plantin' more basil next season 's such seemed to've been the savin' grace fer the mater crop. i've a confession. i hugged my sweet momma yesterday. yup, i did. 'twas glorious. 've missed lots 'f 'firsts' with the grandbabes. we'd plans to go see my granddaughter graduate, 've not seen that bunch'n 5 years... my frustration lies with fellow humans who'd not comply with the requests fer proper mask wearin', social distancin'. they still don't'n our numbers continue to soar. 's 'f friday, we've'd 1471 cases'n our county with 10 deaths...

I tried numerous time to grow my own vegetables. None survived my 'care'. Maybe I don't have enough skills for it. Well, I can keep on trying. Which I stubbornly do until now

@VickiJW I am very very frustrated with having to wear a mask each time I go out and people not social distancing. I want to be able to walk to town again and not worry about getting too close to others.

I too grow some part of our our veggies in my garden and it gives a lot of happiness I am missing my friends and families who stay far. We have not visited each other this year. I was very upset when all my pre planned vacation and travel plans went for a toss.
