Crafting - Wool and Wood

Strawberry clock

Good day to you all. I thought I'd share this picture of a clock I've just finished making. I made the original wood burn as a practice piece, perhaps to use as a coaster. I then had the idea of turning it into a clock. Not sure where that idea came from - possibly from seeing my design on a clock on Redbubble and thinking I could do that myself! Anyway, I made the original a while ago - March or April this year just as I'd started working from home. The project has been done in stages and in between other things. I've really enjoyed doing this one, but I must give credit to my husband for drawing the strawberry and to my youngest son for drawing the numbers. The clock is going to be a gift for our middle granddaughter's birthday. I've also been knitting a blanket for our youngest granddaughter, which I hope will be finished in time for Christmas (the blanket, not the granddaughter)! I think I'm about halfway through the blanket. I've managed to forget so many things about knitting, though. Trying to follow a pattern but forgetting how to purl, dropping stitches and not remembering how to fix it. Luckily, it's just a blanket and I'll be able to tidy it up with some silk edging and a bit of sewing. I've also recently had my birthday and wedding anniversary. We (husband and I) were supposed to go on a helicopter flight, which my family had bought as a birthday present for me. Unfortunately, that's had to be postponed due to Covid restrictions near where the flight was to take place. Of course I was a little disappointed about that, but we can do it another time and I did have lots of other fun. I was also offered a new job the day before my birthdaversary. It's what I've been doing for the past six months because of not being able to do my usual job. It's official now, and pays a little more. A friend of mine was saying that, as rubbish as this year has been, it's not the worst that some of us have had. It's certainly been a good year for me in many ways! I'd like to know all about what you've been up to. Has this year been kind to you in any way? Anything you're particularly grateful for or something you've finally had chance to do that you couldn't before? Have you found any new hobbies or inspiration?

This clock is beautiful and I am sure your granddaughter will love it. I always appreciated hand made gifts. I still has a blanket that my grandmother knitted for me many years ago.

Wow! You've been busy. Great clock! Everyone will enjoy all of the handmade gifts that you give. Congratulations and Happy Birthday! An anniversary and new job are things to celebrate. The one highlight of our year has been that we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. Glad to see you here.

Your granddaughters would love to have those hand made gifts. They are made with so much care and love. My grandmother had made one blanket for me when I was 12 and even after 30 years I have it( though it is all in bad shape) as a cherished memory.
