Yesterday was a beautiful, perfect fall day to install the three little library book lending boxes that our grandson Nathan made for his Eagle Scout project with the Boy Scouts of America.
I was there as the official photographer, LOL, and several of the other scouts helped plant them. They're at three different locations around the city he lives in and I think they turned out really well.
Hopefully a lot of folks will enjoying borrowing and lending books in the community.
It turned out to be a bigger and more work intensive project than was believed at first. But often that's the case with things like that. The boxes were designed and made entirely by Nathan, his dad, and my husband. Well, I helped paint a little and was the general gofer.
Some local fast food places donated breakfast and lunch to the scouts...they were camping out this weekend. Good thing they cut it short and went home last night because we've had a solid rain all day today.
Now Nathan has to appear before the board and present his project, then at some point they'll have a ceremony.
We're really proud of our boy.

That sounds like a really good project. We can only hope the community responds well and it's a hit. Guess only time will tell.

@1creekgirl I agree. There are still people who enjoy the feel of a book in-hand. E-readers and audiobooks might be my only option ... if I enjoyed reading, but there are those who are old-fashioned.

@kaylachan I've always loved to read and realized after I had a Kindle e-reader that I really prefer real books.

that's neat. Good for him making them. We don't have any around here.

They seem popular here, but I don't know if the covid virus will hamper any borrowing.

He knows he couldn't have done the whole project without the help of his dad and his grandfather, my husband.
