It's So Early Dark Again

in my "neck of the woods." This phrase reminds me of one of our fellow Mylotters whom I have not seen him for a long time. I can't remember his name. It was only 13 degrees Celcius today, foggy and well, no sign of the sun. A depressing day but I got over it. I can't control the weather and so I just make the best of it. It was already dark before 6 in the evening. We usually take our dinner at this hour of the day. I was making Chicken Sinigang, a Filipino soup which is a bit sour because of the tamarind spice in it. This is one of my comfort food when I feel cold. Gladfully, my hubby loves it, too. I added Wirsing, a kind of cabbage here in Germany, to this soup. My friend gave me half of her cabbage yesterday when I was with her as that cabbage was so huge. Bigger than my head.

I can no longer cook. My husband cooks once and a while from my recipes. I hate that it gets dark so early now. Our sunset is around 6:30. The time change goes into effect November 1; and it will get dark an hour earlier! :-(

I wonder who you mean that you haven't seen here in a long time. Maybe he will see this post and comment that would be great. I'm not a fan of cabbage but my husband and my parents and sister love it. I'm babysitting my niece but she is napping so I am here commenting away.

Did you use powdered sinigang mix or fresh tamarind. It's what I really missed the fresh tamarind on sinampalukang manok.

Today has been a no-cook day for us. We just raid the fridge/pantry for whatever takes our fancy without planning anything or cooking anything substantial. I had pot noodle for dinner!

Actually yes... made oatmeal from scratch with Apple Crisp tossing that was just perfect with it. It's cold and rainy here and a hot lunch was just what I needed.

I love this time of year when it's dark very early. It feeds into my nocturnal soul! I get very angry by the sun. I know that sounds absurd, but it's true. I literally HATE the sun. Kind of ironic since I live in the "Sunshine State". Hahaha.
