Smashing piggy banks

I don't actually have a piggy bank. But apparently, some of the store's customers do? Maybe.
And although, I'm not sure if they actually smashed anything, it is a bit sad to think that nowadays, some of them have to resort to opening their piggy banks to buy stuff from the store. "This is the only money we have left", they said.
These are 25 centavo coins (Philippine currency). Some people say other stores don't accept them anymore. But I do. They're still money, after all. But most people seemed to think they have no value anymore.
Do you have small denomination coins that are considered to have little or no value in your country?

Yes, there are such coins in my place. Most shops do not accept them as they have no value.

I keep coins regardless of the denomination as long as it is still accepted currency. What I usually do is bring these coins to banks to be deposited. They are obliged to accept these.

Oh yes I do have 1 cents which are generally not used in the country even if there are some items that are 5 cents in nature. In fact most of the shops do not accept them anymore.
