Day 81 Promise 539 John 16:7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. 12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. 15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore, said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you. Often, we don’t understand what is happening in the world. We listen, we watch, we interpret, but we are still lost. Jesus told the disciples things they couldn’t understand immediately. They wouldn’t understand fully until after His resurrection. However, Jesus told them those things so when the time came, they would understand. Jesus also told them He would send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to them to teach them everything they needed to know. As Christians, you have the Holy Spirit to help you understand God’s Word. You don’t need to wait as the disciples did. You have access to the Holy Spirit as soon as you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. Do you need to fear what man will do to you? Jesus said the world would hate those who accepted Him. Today, Christians are tortured and executed by those who reject Jesus as the Son of God. He told His disciples what would happen before it did so they wouldn’t fear what Satan and the world would do to them. Today, missionaries are in every country of the world teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who will listen. Many are killed every year for their testimony of Jesus Christ, yet it doesn’t deter the Word from going forth. Every person who claims to be a Christian is a missionary. Whether you go to a foreign country or stay home, the Holy Spirit will provide opportunities for you to witness to those who will listen and accept or reject Jesus as Savior and Lord. When you step outside your door, you are entering your mission field. Let’s pray: Father, help me be Your witness as the Holy Spirit leads. Teach me and show me what You want me to know. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 28 October 2020 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
