Last night I zipped up my jacket and stepped outside. My husband came with me. The full moon shone light in a way that I have not appreciated in a long time. We made our way down along the driveway, along the garden fence and kept going, carefully making our way, threading down to the bottom of our property. Such shadows! I'd carved out a path through the weed growth so that we could get to our make shift bench. The county has irrigation water channeling just beyond our fence. Cattails and marshy ground were not far in back of us. Geese had honked as we started out along the driveway. I don't think much about moonlight. Daylight, yes. But moonlight? And shadows. Last night was another world; another kind of light. If I'd been a kid, I might have begged my parents to allow me to camp out under the full moon and stars. We sat on our makeshift bench, talked and soaked in the quiet. I felt grateful, loved, and whole as the moon cast her light on my world.
