Checked the news about the aftermath of the super storm. The rivers overflowed, the lahar from Mt. Mayon covered homes, Catanduanes was virtually cut off, and a million Bicolanos braving their way back through muddy feeder roads to get to their nipa huts or whatever humble dwelling places, most of which are destroyed by Typhoon Rolly.
The newscast anchors and reporters, amid the tragic news of devastation and death asked, 'Where is the president?'
A joke ensued, 'Like the new Storm Siony, he is outside of Philippine Area of Responsibility.'
The netizens are quick to create the hashtag - #Sleeping on the job.

We do not have a president. We do not have a government.
We are on our own.

Good thing the local government, the baranggay, and the different departments, the NDRRMC and the like have reliable and undaunted people faithful to their jobs. They are quick to respond and extend assistance. The foundation built by the previous administration was solid.

@GodServantme It's everyone's dream to alleviate people from poverty. Sad to say, poverty will always be with us to stay.

@rsa101 I saw the winds lashing on the news videos.
And here in my abode, I grew chilly and cold.

Yes that hashtag was indeed trending yesterday since the the task force handling the situation convened without the president. Many supporters were defending the president that his presence is not needed since he could not stop the typhoon anyway. We are not expecting him to stop it but at least he should have shown his presence being the president.

@eileenleyva True and there are those that are just posting nonsense and just trying to engage you which I preferred not to react to anyone of them. It is said that is where they earn when someone would get engaged with their nonsensical comments.

Those despicable trolls did say that 'he could not stop the typhoon anyway'? Such toxic language unbecoming of a people. Yuck. In our vernacular - mga bastos!

@rsa101 We have a proverb - 'Ang maniwala sa sabi-sabi walang bait sa sarili.'
Those who engage in useless and foul comments are sick.

Our absentee of a leader has not released the calamity funds. The lack of leadership is causing delay. Couldn't get back to normal yet.

The people are resilient. Exhausted and hungry, they are on it, cleaning the debris.
The local governments are on it, too.
It's the leadership that is lame.
