Had to have another COVID test....

Hey everyone! I hope you're all well! I haven't been on here as much as I would like to so I am way behind with catching up with so many MyLotters and notifications. And I am way behind with my own updates and random posts I wish to share with you. For now I will just share how my brain nearly got poked again by that lovely COVID test. In July I had to have a COVID test due to having a cold ( twice ) but that was all due to being on Prac at the childcare centre. And now I am sick again with a cold from being back at Prac. I am doing so much better now than before but still a lingering cough that often makes me vomit ( sorry too much info for some ) and still having a bit of a runny nose. So anyway, on the 26th of October, I needed a doctor's note as I couldn't go to Prac or class. But the doctor's I prefer to go to were booked so I had to go to the Respiratory Clinic. I asked on the phone if I had to have a COVID test. I got told that I didn't have to. Then a bit later I had to call them again and while we were on the phone I asked again about the test and I was told that I didn't have to have it if I didn't want to. So I get there, and the woman I was seeing was actually the same woman I saw last time and I asked her too. "Do I have to have the COVID test? I will if I have to but I am hoping I don't have to do that again." She said that unfortunately it's something I have to get used to. Anyone who works in healthcare or childcare has to get checked for COVID in case bosses / managers want a clearance. So I had the COVID test. She suggested I sat on my hands as last time my natural reaction was to push her away. It got done, wasn't as bad as last time but I guess it's because I knew what to expect. I got a text the next day telling me my test was negative which I already assumed it would have been. Only getting sick due to being around children. Plus, apparently a virus is going around right now. So thank you for reading. Random little update. I have some more but will do them later on. Wishing you all well!

@Hannihar aw thank you Hanni! I hope you are taking care of yourself too. And Sophie! Sorry, I know you've sent me a message and an email. I am so far behind. I promise I haven't forgotten and not ignoring you. Just trying to catch up around working, classes and being sick.

@Hannihar I am feeling better thank you with the cold but still coughing that sometimes makes me sick. I apparently have another virus now that makes me have a sore and red throat. It's crazy! One on top of the other. Unfortunately I will just keep getting sick while I'm around them and I may do so for a very long time. Months or maybe even a couple years while building up my resistance to their viruses.

@VivaLaDani13 How are you feeling now? Is there something that can be done when you are around the kids so you do not get sick. Don't worry about it. I know you have a lot to deal with so whenever you can get back to me. You are welcome. We are ok.

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry you had to repeat the test, I have heard that it's not really pleasant. I am sure that you got sick because many kids are sick during this time of the year. Take care.

@LadyDuck Thank you Anna. It's such an odd and unpleasant feeling. At least it's very quick!

@LadyDuck I really hope you don't need to. Like I said before whilst you and Judy were talking, I believe you can both handle it as I believe you're both strong but yeah, still hoping it's not needed for you. Hey, I was going to message you last night ( my last night ), there is someone new on here but I swear he / she reminds me of another certain someone who used to follow us around a lot. Do you by any chance know who I mean? If not, I will message you.

You’re so lucky evading the virus even you are at a place that is really risky of getting one is high. I haven’t been that lucky that once l got swabbed l got it positive. Now l have recovered already and trying to avoid getting it again.

@rsa101 Western Australia is and has been doing really well actually with the cases so I'm not really at high risk. I wish I could say the same for the Eastern side of Australia though. They are still have so many cases and issues trying to stop it. Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry to know you were positive! May I please ask you what it was like? Only if that's ok to share?

@VivaLaDani13 It was horrible. I had to be put on Oxygen because I could not breathe normally anymore. I developed Pneumonia because of that and it took me a couple of weeks before I could really stand again on my own. There were no warning signs like rashes or anything you just felt very weak with flu like fever and irritation in your throat which later makes you difficult to breathe. Mine was mild to moderate infection still. Some who have other health problems were taken to ICU and not all were fortunate to survive.

@VivaLaDani13 Yeah many are still in denial that this is just some kind of mind conditioning to make people afraid of something. But l got it and i had never experienced it before. It has no physical symptoms you’ll just feel it when you have it and could be fatal if you cannot stop it on the first week. The second week will be the worse. If you survive it the third week will be your recovery stage with the help of medicine.

You do that poke in the nose test, isn't it? It's not fun at all. I saw my foreign colleagues do it. Some even cry. It's kind of flu season now. You still need to do the test even though it might be flu?

@prinzcy It was negative. Like I said in my post, I wasn't even concerned about having it. I am sick due to being around children.

@prinzcy Yep a swab down in the throat and then another swab right up high in the nose. Yeah I will be honest, the first time I got it done, I nearly cried. It isn't painful it's just....weird. I definitely have a cold. I have all the symptoms but it's just the rules now that if you have a cold or cold / flu like symptoms, you cannot go see a doctor. You can call them on the phone but if you want to get checked you have to go to the Respiratory Clinic.

@crossbones27 I don't know if it's all the same everywhere but here, you get a swab down the throat and then right up the nose. It really isn't pleasant. It's quite far up the nose too. The woman who did my test told me she had to make lots of men sit on their hands to stop them from moving too. I am sure many can handle it but for me personally, and many others, it's just not a nice feeling.

@VivaLaDani13 Just pop in and pop out! Now I'm in haha! It's good to hear. It lessen my belief about the pain of swab testing. I've watched some video's of that and I can see from their expression that they didn't feel any pain, but I'm going to watch it. I felt the pain haha!

@tech40 Hey Jandie! Always a surprise to see you pop up! Well for me, it doesn't really hurt. It's just an odd and unpleasant feeling. The throat isn't nice but I can handle that much better than the nose. The swab goes quite far up the nose and once it comes back out (for me) it made my eye water. And it felt like my nose was bleeding but it was just runny. But don't know if that's due to the swab or because my nose was a bit runny anyway.

Thankfully, I have had no need to get tested yet as I don't react well to irritants in my nose. I keep reading about an easy test with saliva coming and hope that when the time comes where I will need to be tested, the saliva test will be the test of choice. Stay safe and healthy!

@kanuck1 I hope you have no reason to ever get tested. It's very quick and not painful but it's not a comfortable feeling. A saliva test would be so much easier so I hope that can happen also! Thank you so much and same to you!

So sorry you had to have the test again. I have to report for jury duty and I'm hoping against hope that we don't all have to get tested for COVID. I hope your cough clears up soon. It sounds awful.

@VivaLaDani13 I went to the court house on Monday; we were all sent home and told to come back Thursday prepared for a six-day trial. Luckily my number didn't get called. Thankfully we weren't tested. That sounds a strange cough. Hope it goes away soon.

@JudyEv Thank you kindly Judy. Oh my goodness! I hope you don't have to have it. When will reporting to jury duty take place? Or has it already happened? Thank you kindly. It's a weird cough that can come at odd times. I can work out for over an hour and be fine but if I get up a different time just to get a drink, I start coughing up a lung. Coughs happen at random times!

@JudyEv I am happy to know you weren't needed for it nor no need for a test! I've never been called before. I am very curious, though, I've never heard anyone saying it was an enjoyable thing. Thank you very kindly.
