When I was at secondary school I liked English Language, English Literature , History, Religious Education and Geography.
I didn't liked Mathematics or Science and I hated Physical Education.
After leaving school I went to further education college to study Business and Finance Shipping and Transport. I went to work in Finland for a family when I was 18 years old. I came back home and worked as a container marketing controller for a shipping company.

Mine is paradoxical. I really hate math in my elementary days but when I reach high school it becomes my favorite subject. I completed my degree in elementary education concentrating in English and Math.

@Nakitakona It is lovely to learn something useful. I worked out a two ways to pay off my mortgage. I am glad I learned mathematics in my younger days. I did overpayments from 2013 and target setting from 2016. I paid it off in June 2017.

Looking back, I never really liked anything. I studied well because I excelled and want perfect scores and medals. But I enjoyed reading the short stories.
My first job was as accounting assistant.

Hello Arya. I am pleased you got perfect scores and medals. Sorry you didn't like most of your subjects. I see you liked the short stories. I hope you enjoyed working as an accountancy assistant. While working for the shipping company I traveled up to London on a train each day.

@yoalldudes Ayra it is exciting you work in budgeting. It would be a satisfying job because numbers never lie. Of course it can be stressful at busy times.

My favorite subject was Danish. I also liked English, German, French, geography, history and biology. I didn't like physics and chemistry. When I was 14 I got my first job. I worked in a law firm after school. I cleaned up, washed the dishes and took the mail to the post office. My first full time job was in Estonia. I worked in a group home for adults with special needs.

Porcospino it is excellent that you liked Danish and I am impressed you got on well with other languages like German and French. I am happy that you liked History and Geography. It is interesting that you liked Biology yet you didn't like Physics or Chemistry. Well done getting a job at the solicitor after school. Your full time job in Estonia with the adults with special needs must have been rewarding.

I liked the subjects outside of academics: business classes (typing, accounting, shorthand), home economics (cooking, sewing, woodshop), art (painting, drawing), journalism, yearbook, psychology.
My first job was being a tutor at our high school .

My "favs" were similar to yours - I studied Eng Lit, History and Geography for A-level. Strange to tell, they are still high up my list of interests more than half a century later. They must account for quite a high percentage of the articles I post on my blogs - more than 2,200 of them (articles, not blogs!) at the current count!
PE and Games? No way! I always wanted to play cricket, but they wouldn't let me. My lifelong ambition has always been to score a run, but the opportunity has never presented itself!
My first job? As a professional librarian I first worked for the British Council's Libraries Department. One of my assignments was to set up a library in the Cultural Section of the British Embassy in Moscow, back in 1977.

John Welford my mother worked as a librarian as well. She was lucky that the secondary school she was going to got blown up in World War II. Therefore she went to a much better secondary school. This made her get much more intelligent and be able to do a degree to become a librarian. It is excellent that you have your own blog with 2,200 articles. If My Lot lets you it would be nice if you could say its name. I see your love of English Literature, History and Geography have continued. It must have been amazing to work at the British Council in Moscow.

Seems like I was the complete opposite to you. I loved maths, physics, computer science and PE. Having said that I liked English Literature too and I'm still an avid reader today.
After graduating with a degree in Computer Science back in 1986 my first job was as a software engineer working on electronic warfare and electronic counter-measure products.

WorDazza yes it doesn't sound that you are the opposite to me. What made me so upset with Mathematics the teacher said if I was so stupid he was not going to explain it to me again. Years later I found a much better Mathematics teacher that said he would teach his students many different ways for his students to get the right answer. So for my second time I got a grade C. I am delighted that you carried on your love for English Literature.

@maximax8 I think bad teachers have an awful lot to answer for. Who knows how many people could have excelled in particular subjects if they'd only had a decent teacher.
I was the same with Chemistry. I absolutely hated it. I got a grade C at O Level and didn't pursue Chemistry any further. It wasn't until years later, when my son did a Chemistry degree that I realised just how interesting the subject is and consequently how bad my teacher was.

I used to love English and Mathematics most, though I also excelled in the other subjects.
