Credit card debt

People can buy things using a credit card and then pay off their balance in the next month. Others spend a lot of money and pay a little back each other. Many people in England build up lots of credit card debts and so choose a balance transfer fee. If someone wishes to get a new kitchen or a new bathroom they get a zero percent interest credit card. Then they pay off an amount every month. What do you think of credit cards? Have you ever used one?

I have a few credit cards. I use them and pay them off in full each month.

NJ Chicaa. It is excellent that you pay off your credit cards every month. I went on a trip and in Thailand I lost my debit card that I paid my credit card with. I sent messages to the credit card company. I didn't have any other debit cards with me. The pay by date came and then when I got home I paid it using another debit card. Now I don't use any credit cards anymore.

I don't have any credit cards. Never apply for one. I already have enough to pay each months so I don't want to add another one to the list. I'll try to spend the money that I have, stretch them to the max.

@prinzcy Which other debts do you have? Perhaps student loans, a mortgage or a car payment?

I have a credit card before but decided just to close it. I prefer to use a debit card, so I don't have to worry about paying for it anymore since it's my own money

We use 3 credit cards that offer bonus points. One is specially used for groceries, restaurants, and entertainment. One is for bills and travel. And the 3rd is for gas for the car. They are mostly for air miles and shopping at my favorite store. They work best if paid off after each statement arrives. We pay in full every month. I learned my lesson after I had my very first credit card.

Dianne N. I see you have 3 credit cards which you use responsibly. I am glad that you learned a lesson early on. I got totally put off credit cards because I lost my debit card in Thailand. I wasn't able to go online and pay my American Express Credit Card. I explained to them my situation online. When I got home I paid it with another debit card. Thanks for your excellent response to my discussion.

@DianneN I had some foreign currency I was able to spend on my trip. I had to spend money on the credit cards when I ran out of that. It was so upsetting that I had lost my debit card in Thailand. Yes, I learned my lesson 100%.

@maximax8 Wow, so sorry you went through that. I can understand why you are reluctant to use them. You’re welcome.

I don't own one and have no plans of having one. I prefer paying in cash so as not to incur additional fees and interest (credit card). Also, I prefer being debt-free.
