Remote Learning, Ups & Downs!

I Honestly don’t feel safe or comfortable with my children attending school physically so remote learning for me works. Although it isn’t as easy or simple as it seems since everything is digitally uploaded on platforms but I’m familiar with the assignment uploads and platforms so it’s easy for me. I currently took over my twins side of the work since they are in 4th and my wife does her part with our son Jr. The only negative thing I can say about remote learning is that I’m paying the teachers the same price but in the end it’s my wife and I teaching the kids which can be a bit frustrating when

I thought the teachers were supposed to be on hand to help parents teach their kids?? Glad to see you're back.

We have zoom meeting twice a week to review with the kids, it isn’t too bad just very time consuming

And my grandson goes to a private school for $60,000 a year and he opted to do online learning for the same price. My granddaughter has a very good online program at a prestigious private online school for the gifted and talented which comes at a price, too. We just want the kids safe, but ours are older than yours - 10 and 12 and need no help.

Since we have kids in person as well as kids remote, our teachers are essentially doing double work at the same time. They are frustrated as well. They still have to prepare lessons and grade homework, etc. even though things are uploaded digitally.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX our teachers at our school are paid very well compared to many other schools but teaching so many kids each day is not a job I could handle.

You are right not feeling safe, keep your children at home, even if it is frustrating to pay for a service not really necessary.

It's the same sentiments from parents here. Internet connection also is a trouble for some. Anyway, the best thing is that they are safe.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX Yes here too, for some who have a lot of children, ratio of PC in the household may not be enough.

I'm sure alot of familes feel the same way. In some cases the bigger kids that our doing the online learning aren't really learning anything same goes for younger ones. My nephew only had like 3 hours of school work to do and he was done so that really isn't learning for him. I think next semester he is going to start going back to in school learning.

I am so thankful that we do not have young children during these difficult times. I would think that you are doing what is best for them by schooling them at home like this. I know that it is not easy.

Hello there stranger. Nice to see you. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with young children physically going to school either.

School being close here for partial lockdown so the lesson will be resume from home. At least it's the government that paying the teachers salary. I am expecting the teachers to send load of homework again.
