Mr Hissy’s New House

Mr Hissy's House in the rain

Mr Hissy, a handsome black cat, was the first moggie to visit regularly, from Spring of last year. Mr H would appear for a couple of days then go ‘walkabout’ for another couple of days. He used to live in a neighbour’s shed, which had a bed set up for him. One day he moved out and we don’t know where he went at night. Mr H would spend hours on a chair, padded with extra blankets, by the neighbour’s back door. I decided to invest in a little house for the garden and Mr H. I borrowed one of his chair blankets, so it smelled right and he moved in before supper that day. Since then I have put a cat igloo in, which he didn’t like, and a fluffy blanket, which he also didn’t like! I plan to install a cat flap, to offer some weather protection, but will give him a bit of time settle after my earlier attempts to cosy up the place. The picture shows Mr Hissy during the first rain after he moved in.

I like Mr H, he hisses at everything, but is rather nice except to other cats who try to muscle in on his dinner!

aw, how sweet! ya've a tender heart to purchase such. cats're funny critters, they dislike many thingies humans think'd be most grand. 't least he's usin' this, the ferals here shun such, preferrin' to jest pile'p with each other throughout the garages. best 'f luck with the flap.

I do wonder if he is abandoned or always a stray. He is friendly and seems settled now. I will be trying again with a smaller fluffy blanket, as maybe the last one was too big for him and took up too much space.

You obviously got something just to his liking! Since we moved to our current house over 4 years ago, we have had a silver tabby cat do the rounds of our garden at least three times a day every day, and yet we still don't know where he actually lives. He's not a stray, he wears a collar, and I have seen him walking along the roads and pavements all over the place within a radius of about a mile around our place, sometimes going into other gardens, walking in the woods.... he doesn't belong to any of our ten closest neighbours. I've even tried following him but of course if he goes into another property I can't follow him in there and have no way of knowing whether that is his home. I'm very curious!

There is another black cat who calls, also wears a collar and is friendly. I guess he stops by for a breakfast and then on with his patrol

Why's he called Mr.Hissy? Anyway, bless you for taking such good care of this little fellow. Maybe he will end up being your roommate ?

I was talking about him today and we have decided that he is the biggest cat we have seen. He is bigger than my old cat Burbank. His favourite thing is to hiss at you, pick him up and he hisses, give him a meal and he hisses! He is a lovable old rascal and once he gets to knows you, very friendly...in his own, special, way!

The only time he leaves is when the sun hits his favourite chair. Also, that chair is close to the kitchen window and he knows that chicken appears there!

very cute, you know what your cat wants, and the cat house is very nice and very decent, my cat at home only uses a regular cage, is your cat usually outside the house?

I have my indoor cat, who I got from the local rescue. Mr H, and his neighbour Mr M, adopted me. They do pop into the kitchen, but never stay for more than a few seconds

@Tampa_girl7 I have ordered a house for Mr M. Between my first comment today and this one, we took Mr M to the vet's as he had laboured breathing and his eyes were sticky. Pills and drops, that'll be fun for the next few days!

That's so cute. And great that Mr Hissy approves. We can go to so much trouble for cats but if they don't like it for whatever reason - then we've totally wasted our time - and our money.

@JudyEv Bit of a problem, as they are no longer in stock. Wondering if they stopped making them or are working on new stock.

If it is warm he is on the chair, but if the weather is dodgy or it is night he moves into his house. I got him a new blanket and this time he has accepted it. Hoorah!
