An Interesting Turnaround

I keep reading comment after comment and post after post about the Biden win saying, Biden won. Just get over it. And things like Stop complaing and just move on. You lost. I hear people say it's over. Just live with it. And I can honestly admit that I agree with all of that sentiment. I only wish that the same people who are saying this now would have said this for the past 4 years that we had to listen to them take a very different position when THEY lost.

I voted for Trump in 2016. I did not vote for him in 2020. Enough said.

@porwest Yes. Please be open-minded about our new President. I think his demeanor will be more accepted around the world. I know he probably will not live up to your expectations policy-wise. Smile!

@LindaOHio I am ALWAYS open mind about any president. I am also always fair in my judgement of what they do. I wish the same could be said about the left unfortunately. Nobody on the left, nor the media, was willing to give Trump any benefit of the doubt, and worse, refused to acknowledge any accomplishments he made. That all said, and many people probably don't remember, there were many instances when I was critical of Trump. I am not one of those who simply gives all my guys a pass and all the other's guys a hard time.

And I won't deny you your vote. Although I will say I think you voted for the person, not the policy. But I am not going to hash that out with you. Your vote, your choice, the American people have spoken...regardless of what or why or whether it was right or wrong... It is the choice we now must live with.

I've seen those kinds of comments on FB from Trump haters. Why don't they move on from acting like Biden is actually their new president? As of now he is not. And who knows if he will be once all this is over.

@porwest We will see what happens with the recounts and the lawsuits. Nothing final yet. And this is far from over. And a few states have not been called either.

I think Biden will BE the next president. I have never seen a contested election overturned and nothing suggests this one will be different. All we can do is deal with the consequences this election presents and hope we come out (somehow) on top. This one is VERY different in that we are facing some REAL challenges. But hopefully at least having the Senate stifles most of their agenda. We can only hope. Otherwise we are doomed unfortunately.

@lovebuglena As much as I want to say there is "hope" that somehow Trump pulls off a win despite it all, I think it's pretty much a done deal, and we're simply going to have to deal with Biden.

It is easy to complain, hard to be constructive. We love to tell people what to do. I have not enjoyed the attitudes of people the last four years. Some people, like you, can be civil, others would never dream of it.

And that's part of my frustration sometimes. That certain people can't be civil and just disagree on point. Instead what we get is too much name calling and just downright meanness. And to be fair it comes from both sides, but it is way more vitriolic from the left unfortunately. That's just truth. If I disagree with a president, I try to stay focused on the WHY and forget about the guy. Because the guy, to me, doesn't matter. I have said time and time again that Trump was abrasive and crude at times. But I think in the end that doesn't matter. He had good policies that made life better for most Americans. On the flip side, I have also said Obama was a likeable guy. But he was a lousy president with damaging policies. We used to vote policy. Now we are voting personality. And I think that's dangerous. We just removed an effective president and replaced him with one who has not been effective the past 47 years of his existence in politics, and that just makes no sense to me. But here we are.

How can we hope for that now? The democrats over the past four years set the stage for anything but a peaceful transition.

The point there is to start a new beginning. Patch up things for the better. Allow the new government officials to do their job.

That would be a fine thing to say if that is what the left would have said four years ago. NOW all of a sudden we're just supposed to accept the outcome simply because it agrees with THEIR desired result? Ridiculous. The time for decorum was four years ago.

Based on everything he campaigned on, I can find no good for us or anyone else for that matter. We shall see. I can only hope I am wrong.

@Butterfingers I only hope for an HONEST debate. All of a sudden the left is acting like they took the election well over the last four years, and are trying to claim they just followed along like good, honest people, when in reality that cannot be farther from the truth. Suddenly they have forgotten the last four years and how they acted when they lost the election. They were FAR from good sports.

Violence usually does not come from the right. It comes from the left. So I have no worries about that part of it. But I do hope there can be some resolution of some sort at least.

This has been going on since the days of Clinton and the “MY president is Charlton Heston” (who was president of the NRA). I’m an American. My president is whoever is president. I may not like him (I didn’t care for Carter or Nixon), but I’m not renouncing my citizenship over it. I believe in God, and no election can replace Him as Sovereign. (Which makes me wonder why so many of the God-fearing folk are the ones idolizing Trump.....)

In a democracy that's how it works - sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. All this complaining along the lines of "you say you won but we did really, because you cheated" only serves to poison the water. When you live in a world that believes every conspiracy theory that comes along, that is what you have to expect, but it really doesn't help - any more than does talk along the lines of "we're complaining about illegal activity now because your lot did last time".

Fraud and just plain incompetency have been getting worse and worse over the years. It's time we clean this up and get back on track so why not now. It amazes me how easily people forget, it's only a bit worse this year than in years past.

Hillary conceded. She didn't create some hotline to report phony fraud. She didn't file a zillion lawsuits. She didn't say to stop the counting.

This is a line I have heard several times, which is true on the surface, but untrue in reality. She may have "officially" conceded. But in interview after interview for the past four years she stated that she actually won the election, that Trump stole it from her, and that the Russians colluded. It is not okay for the left to rewrite history here, as much as you all want that to be. And in fact, the left did worse. It was a four year impeachment process if you will remember. Four years of denial of the election results. Four years of bashing the president. Four years of doing everything in their power to try to overturn the will of the people. For the left to now claim this wasn't the case and somehow the right is unjustified in at least QUESTIONING things is absurd. To deny that none of this happened for the past four years and to claim that the left is doing things "above board" now is completely dishonest. To make the assertion now that somehow the left is beyond "behaving badly over a lost election" is also ridiculous at best.

Nothing he said in his campaign and nothing he has done in 47 years in politics suggests he has the slightest clue of what is good for America.
