On a night like this.

Tonight I feel a little reflective.
Life can be full of joy, but also full of tests that we have to surpass on the way. At this exact time, I am feeling a little blue. Maybe it has to do with homesickness. Next month will mark one year out of my country without seeing my parents in person. Sometimes it doesn't hurt that much because I keep my mind busy, while there are other times, like now, when sadness wants to take over.
I will eventually shake this off, and keep going...
But now, I am just processing it.
Thanks for reading.

Of course you may. I left Venezuela due to the hard economical situation lived there. High inflation rate, insecurity, violence, a government which isn't democratic at all, among others. I found myself getting older, and no changes around me, so I made my decision after long deliberation.

Thanks Dear Anna. Sometimes I say yo myself that it could've been worse, but I got her here. She actually lives in the same city as I do. I am grateful for that. You can totally understand what I go through.

@jvicentevalera I am so sorry you are feeling down. I don't blame you as that is a very long time to be away from loved ones.
I wish you the best in shaking off that sad feeling.

@jvicentevalera You're so very welcome. I am so happy to know that feeling has been shaken off! I also understand what you're saying. Sometimes emotions can just take over for awhile over something happening in our lives. My best wishes to you!

Thanks pretty girl. I already shook that off. I let my consciousness process my emotions, but when it's enough is enough. I am way better now.

That's natural for there's no place like home.

i skimmed through some 'f the comments'n yer responses, so've a better idea 'f yer reasonin' fer bein' blue. 'tis most diff'cult to leave yer home 'n folks 'hind. i felt such years 'go with my dad, though not 'nother country did i flee, jest 1300 miles 'way. made seein' him a very rare treat. 're ya able to visit via yer phone? not certain how that works (cost), but know many do those video calls 'n such seems to help. 'tis not the same, but 't least ya can see 'em.
i know they've got'ta be proud 'f ya, makin' a life elsewhere when yer country 'tis'n such disarray. so glad ya got'cher sis'n her young'uns there close by. ease the pain a bit anyhow.

I'm sorry about you being away from your parents for so long. We haven't seen our sons for over 12 months either and I don't really know when we'll see them again. One lives in Melbourne so if our country stays safe we'll be able to visit him soon but the other one is in Ireland. And we're getting older all the time.

@jvicentevalera It is nice that you are able to visit your sister. That would be a small comfort.

Thank you Judy. I am glad to hear that one of your sons is at least in your own country. You know you can take a flight, or a bus, or ride wherever he is. But when the distance is miles away is a totally different story. I have my older sister living in Santiago as well, so it is such a relief having her nearby. Despite that I have been busy due to work I make sure to visit her and her children when I am on my day off. You said something really important about getting older. My biggest fear is not to be able to enjoy my parents' best years which are now. They're getting older and not being nearby them to enjoy them is a little painful, but I try not to focus on that but work.
