7,200 + steps

United States

Well.. I got up this morning and told myself that I needed to do a lot of walking. I walked for 65 minutes today. I walked a little further than I have in awhile, but then started to stay closer to home to get the rest of my steps in. I think my fitbit said I had around 82% fat burn give or take, which is good. We're supposed to have rain again tomorrow, so I might go out and take another walk if I have time for it before sunset. If I do, it won't be as long as it has been. I'm staying steady weight wise which is good and bad. I haven't really gained any, but I haven't lost any either. I really do need to invest in that scale that measures the muscle mass as well as body fat mass as it would give me a better idea of how I'm doing. My knee hurts, but then it was hurting yesterday too. It's a pain that comes and goes.

Congratulations on taking the initiative to lose weight. Don't overdo it with that knee though. It shouldn't hurt.

Oh my knee was hurting before all the walking... But thank you. I've lost 30 lbs since I've first started but I have to get over this next 30 lb hurdle. By then I'll be at the weight that is recommended for my height.

@LindaOHio I've been happily surprised at how easy it's been to change my mindset around eating. I still have some struggles with being bored and wanting to eat, but I've been able to stave those urges off. I haven't seen the weight I am now in several years. I don't even want to admit how long it's been since I've seen this weight. It's harder for us females to lose weight!

I try to walk every day but I haven't got a fitbit. I don't walk for an hour though, at 80 that's a bit beyond me.

@jaboUK Ah yes, I still do that today. Especially if I want to calculate how many times I have to go back and forth on the same path to get to the number of steps I want. That way I don't have to count or look at my fitness tracker all the time.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That's what I do - I know how many steps it is to a certain point, so can calculate that way.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I don't have a smartphone but I have counted steps the old-fashioned way - in my head.

I got out for a X-country ski yesterday. I managed 30 minutes. Also did Yoga. I don't think it was enough to make up for all the sitting I did though.

@paigea I'm glad you enjoy it. I am sure it offers lots of beautiful views too.

Yoga is something that I'd like to give a try. I don't think I could ever get on a pair of skis though, not even for a bunny hill.

Thanks. It's the whole "keeping it up" thing that's getting me at the moment.

@Courtlynn It's hard! Especially if the weather isn't cooperating. Makes us even lazier.

We are expecting rain from tonight and into tomorrow. I was really hoping to have another long walk tomorrow but that might not happen.

So, walking is effective exercise to burn fat? I think you're doing good so far

As long as you are increasing your heart rate you are burning fat. My neighborhood has some inclines that are beneficial to me. I try to walk some of them and then take some declines too.

@J3n4rA Yes, the harder your body has to work the harder your heart will work. This morning I had to jog up a hill as a car was ready to back out and it increased my heart rate by about fifteen beats.

I walked the other day, but for some reason...my pedometer isn't counting the steps, but it was probably around 5 or 6 thousand.

I don't believe my fitbit counts all my steps accurately either.. I guess none will be completely accurate though. There's that website "MapMyWalk" that might give you a better idea of how many steps you took.

I am also on steady weight. No matter what I do, I am stuck. Not gaining, not losing. Not a good thing either. I need to lose a few more kg.

It's annoying, isn't it? I've lost 30 lbs so far but I want to lose 30 more and it feels like it's taking forever for me to get started with this next loss. Have you added more protein and less carbs in your diet?

I guess I just want to be ten lbs lighter before the new year. I am also taking into consideration that it might be too cold for me to walk outside soon.

It sounds good, but the body needs daily activity to see results.

You are right, it does. I try to walk around the house when it's too cold or rainy outside, but that gets boring for me after awhile.
