Last Minute Client Request

When I was working part-time, I had 2 online contract works for encoding invoices. One is for an online cash back app, and another for a restaurant chain. Since I was able to obtain a full-time employment, I can no longer commit to the hours nor the bulk of work that they require from me. However, every now and then, they will send me an email asking if I am available to tackle some invoices. If I can do it, I'll ask them to send it to me. Then they will deposit the payment to my PayPal account. This afternoon, one of them emailed me and asked if I have time to knock out 67 invoices. I said, why not. And just 5 minutes ago, I just finished the last one. And now I'm tired! But I could use the extra money for our vacation. Oh who am I kidding - the money that I earn from my side gigs go to a separate savings account that I never touch. Even though I am earning good with my day job (which I am thankful of everyday), I always make it a point to recognize and take any opportunity that allows me to get a little more income stream, no matter how small it may seem. I met these clients while I was still in the Philippines, processing my immigration papers. I have to quit my full-time job then so I can attend to appointments pertaining to my papers. But in between waiting for USCIS schedule, I became bored and so I decided to look for any online work that will allow me a lot of free time. When these clients learned that I am settled here, and knowing the kind of service that I provide, they offered me to work for them again. They are very nice and they understand that my full-time job here is now my priority. But for them, as long as I deliver whatever I committed to do, then they are good. Once I almost lost their trust. A friend asked for help about an opportunity for a work from home job. I helped her by accepting more tasks from these clients and I pass it on to her, with the understanding that all payments for anything she finishes will be hers. She was happy because it is the kind of online work that she is looking for. It was win-win at first, until the clients emailed me about some issues with the quality of the entries. I reached out to my friend and I was given all kinds of excuses. Suffice to say, I took my access back from her, apologized to my clients, and promised that it will never happen again.

They get used to your standards, and your friend standard is lower than you. I am glad they give you another opportunity. Your hard work pays off. I am happy for you.

Thank you, and hopefully my friend has learned a lesson that in business, no matter how big or small, integrity is very important.

@Raine38 very much. Always do your best. Even if it's small doesn't mean you need to do less.

As long as you're not burning yourself out. Good thing you took back access from your friend. You need good quality work.

Yes, I am grateful for another chance. I will be very sad and furious if my friend's wrong-doing caused me some issues with those I consider as business partners.

Thank you, and that is the reason why I am now very cautious in recommending people to my business contacts. They may be good people, but that does not necessarily mean that they are good workers.

Are there consultants in your area helping students with their homework? Students asked consultants to do their school assignments.

That is true. That is why I offered some trustworthy friends this side-gig. But no more using my own access, I will help them sign up and pass the test so they have their own account.
