I honestly don't pray for very long, do you? I pray for a minute or less and I quickly go to bed, I'm i the only one? I know prayer is important but it's not something that I enjoy doing, I do make time to pray but not enough time and I know that. Please give me some advice because I need it since I need to get closer to god and your advice with help me get there I believe. Sorry I haven't post in a while...I was going through some difficult times

I do that at times, but I think of praying to God like having a wonderful conversation with my very best friend. That doesn't mean I'm not respectful of the Creator of the universe. But as our heavenly Father, he loves to have communication with us his children.

Use something as a reminder. Like if you drive, each time you have to stop at a red light pray for something. Or each time you get a spam caller, pray for them and then pray for something else on your list. Make a prayer journal, where you write your prayers. It is good to want to draw closer to God.

Prayer is a personal communication with your God. I believe it should be intimate. it doe not matter how long and how you do it, it is like talking to your best friend.

There is no exact way or how to for prayer. A prayer can be short, long, extremely reverent or a quick request or thank you. Your God is no idiot and is generally believed to be understanding and benevolent. My prayers run the gamut from very simple short requests and thank yous to conversations where I just pour it all out. Respect for the one you pray to and a quiet moment to just listen. Just tell God you want to get closer to him and then step back and let him do what he does best.

I don't think that the length of prayer matters. It's the faith that matters. My prayers are quick ones and I can say it any time in day. I say prayer a few times in a day and sometimes it's just a silent one in my mind.

I guess being a Catholic we have this ready made prayers that we recite everytime we pray. But besides that personal one on one talk can also become a good form of prayer with God.

Praying will help you feel better. Pray deeply and with all your hearts. God listens to those who prays with all their hearts but don`t be selfish, you must also have to pray for others too. Read the bible if you can so you will understand the importance and the power of prayer

Do you just repeat a prayer or do you you pray from your heart in your own words? Do you share your concerns, your thoughts and feelings with God? Do you see as God as your Creator, your Father, your best friend? Are you close to God or is he far away? Just some questions to think about!

I think that when we talk to someone, we can either like the conversation, or be bored with it. In talking to God, it is no different. If we like talking to God, we can talk to him openly, friend-like, with affection, and without being bored for a loss of words, but if we are bored with talking to God, we are talking in the same old way, with the same words, and we do not know otherwise how to talk, or to pray to him. I would suggest that we should just talk to God like we would talk to our own father, or our mother. We can tell God how we are feeling, (sad, happy, angry with life, frustrated, upset, stressed, etc) and what are the problems that we are feeling right now in our life too.
