Am I the last person on MyLot who still uses a desktop and a mouse?

When I do computer stuff, I do it at my desk. These days, Kitty is often on my bed, sleeping, when I MyLot. Or work on the book I'm writing.
Am I the only one who still does my computer stuff at my desk? With a mouse? That has a cable attached to it?
A friend sent me this "meme" (or whatever) this morning, and I found it funny. I hope it uploads. Are you old enough to know what famous TV show it references?

@TheHorse It's explained in several dictionaries. The Merriam-Webster dictionary mentions that the term was used for the first time in the year 1781.
Why should the members of an *international* site know "what famous TV show it references"?

Oh, you're so funny. I love the picture; cute little mice. Did Kitty bring them home for you?
I'm sure there are still those who use a corded mouse. We have quite a few computers in our home. My husband and I own a business and have a home office.
In addition to the traveling laptops that we take from room to room, our office has a desktop. We have a mouse pad though.
Don't feel bad about using old, dated technology. I still have a cordless flip phone. I used it yesterday. Not as a phone but I use the stopwatch.

I have several tablets and a couple of laptops and they are all good for some things but I use my desktop for everything that involves writing (Except for texting on my phone). And I still have a wired mouse. I used wireless mouses for a while and they are great but I don't miss having to change batteries in them.

There could be more.
I remember that Desktop keyboards were better to use than laptop ones.
But well, laptops do abound these days.

Once you start using a laptop, you would get used to it in a few days.

Wow, I don’t have a desktop anymore, and I don’t use my MacBook all that often, either.

@TheHorse — a MacBook is Apple’s laptop. I can’t do Big Macs because of the sesame seeds on the bun.

I think the answer to this question might be based on generational gaps. Older computer users tend to stick to their desktop pc's, while younger users do all their computing from their mobile phones and tablets. Of course, this is a stereotype situation, not all older people use desktops and not all younger people use phones/tablets. I tend to use a multitude of stuff, depending on where I'm at when I go online. I will bounce back and forth between my desktop, laptop and mobile phone.
I believe your reference is from the original Star Trek.

That's really funny No , I still use a desktop pc in fact I just bought a powerful gaming computer ( more powerful than the usual home version) from a closed computer shop due to the pandemic at a bargain, it was a real steal.
I just use it differently now,I use it to mine a crypto currency called XMR or monero that is still possible to mine using a cpu or a gpu ( impossible to mine bitcoin now with cpu). So I let the software run and mine in the background while my kids play lol! At least I would get something to offset power cost, the longer they play the more I earn, now I don't have to worry and the gaming computer is more enjoyable for them. Adapting to times for me is important. Sorry I can't remember the TV show.

@TheHorse they do, part of them is still like us, playing real physical games, I see to it that it's that way to keep them healthy. I even taught them to appreciate board games.

I have a laptop. But it is usually on a desk and I prefer the mouse to the mouse pad on the laptop

I myLot on my cell, but I prefer my desktop when possible. It's so much easier to type on there.

I find that the phone is a good alternative to read replies, and press likes, etc, when I have a spare moment.
I am mostly all thumbs, on the phone though, and I can use more fingers on the desktop keyboard more quickly, with both hands going too.
I can use my phone in front of the TV, and still share time with my wife, but stuck up in my study, on my desktop computer all of the time, she tends to complain more about my fixatedness.

A laugh, at the wrong time, can be less than laughable....
Well, no, but she thinks I am listening, as I am in the room with her, so that's better than not being there at all.
I am not listening to the TV either, and when she asks me a question about what she thought that she had just heard, I am in trouble then. She is from another culture, so she asks me to explain stuff often.
Still, I can tell, usually, when something important is being said, and I turn aside for that. I get a feeling up my spine, not to miss this, so I tune in.
I cannot really write good replies, though, on my phone, just press, the like button, or type a quick thanks, and I leave longer replies to be made on my desktop.

I use my laptop and a mouse. I must have my mouse. I'm old enough; but I'm not sure about the reference. Are the initials ST?
