This discussion is inspired by our fellow Mylotter Notlilie. She was writing about the green tea rice that I got an idea of what to write today. I love green tea in many ways. I love drinking bitter green tea as I love bitter drinks. If you want to drink this healthy tea but turned off because of its bitter taste, you should know how to do it. To make a NOT bitter green tea, 1. Do not immediately put boiling water on your green tea mug. Wait for a minute or 2 before putting the hot water in the cup or mug with a green tea bag. 2. Do not allow the green tea bag longer than 3 minutes in your tea mug. Get it out or else it will get bitter. 3. You don´t have to throw away your used green tea bag as you can use it for the second time. The tea mug in the photo is exactly for a 3-minute green tea which is not bitter. If the 3 minutes is still bitter for your taste, you can reduce the time to 2 minutes. I love my green tea bitter and so I let the green tea bag for 5 minutes in my tea mug. I hope this will help you for trying a healthy drink. Thanks for reading. Have a nice day/evening.

I don't drink green tea as there is too much vitamin K in it

Do you add sugar or anything I was figuring that would take the bitterness away.

No, I don´t add sugar or honey but you can do that if you want to. Honey is the best for adding to green tea.

I do not mind bitter green tea either. In fact my parents often say the green tea available here is not bitter enough (they like "real" Japanese green tea).

@thelme55 My husband drinks tea in the afternoon in winter, but not green tea, usually the Black Tea and he wants it made with whole leaves, no sachets.

I don't have a problem with green tea being bitter, but it often seems to be weak when I make it. Not really a fan of it, unless I have it in a Chinese restaurant.

@thelme55 I will see if I have any for a photo and maybe the ingredients. I think it must be milder because I don't consider it bitter even with boiling water.

@thelme55 there are different brands here but there all supposed to be made with green tea leaves. Maybe some are more butter than others. When I was young my grandmother kept us have some but it was weak and she added a lot of milk.

I love green tea too. I used to drink it as plain as it is but lately I have dry throats that I would usually need to mix a little honey.

I have never been bothered by "bitterness" in green tea. It soothes my stomach when I have been challenging said stomach. But I will try what you have suggested.
