Will Trump Run Again in 2024?

If you were Trump's advisor, what would you do right now? I'm glad that the silliness is over, but I don't expect Donald Trump to disappear. If you were his advisor, what would you suggest he do? a) Remain "stubborn," claim he was "robbed," and give no concession speech b) Surprise the world and give a dignified, and even humorous, concession speech, including the words "You're fired!" c) Something else I'm leaning toward b). Remember that this is hypothetical: IF you were Trump's advisor and wanted what's best for his future. Your actual opinions about the man aren't relevant here. Heh.

I have stopped having any opinion about him. I am sure even he doesn't have one about himself now

Nobody knows what he really thinks of himself. His mantra is "never show weakness," but that sounds like the mantra of someone who is weak inside, and knows it.

@kobesbuddy I hope he finds her somewhere deep within himself. I going read a murder mystery and then read Trump's psychologist niece's book about him.

Well, I don't think b) is ever going to happen. If a magic fairy could make him disappear, that would be good.

Probably not realistic. But could be in his long-term best interest. Or not. Maybe some still like his "I'm never wrong, facts be damned" attitude.

In spite of his flaws, I do believe he was a great president and I hope he'll run in 2024 if we have a nation left by then. But I'd choose number 2, also. I would advise him to be more aware of his words, but I don't know that he'll ever do that.

@marguicha Right Trump scares me less than the knowledge that 47% of my fellow citizens could vote for such a man. But here's the irony: When I drive to Montana, I notice that the further I get from California, the kinder and more helpful people become. I checked a map and notice that ALL of the states I drive through after Nevada were "red" states in the 2020 election. so Trump supporters are not in any way "bad people."

Which part has shocked you the most? For me it's a combination of "the lowering of the bar" for what a president can do and the fact that something like 47% of American voters actually voted for him.

I am not sure that an advisor could do anything for him, but, having met a few during my life, some having worked successfully for both sides, I am sure that a good advisor would have already given up and resigned with him. Being a bad advisor, I would tell him to do like he feels, anyways he is the best president that ever had USA, and these ungrateful people did not deserved to have him spending his precious golfing time for them. And don't forget to sign my cheque.

A + C. His followers are still giving him money (We'll know how much after the next FEC filing but some estimates say he has made $100 million from them since the election began and counting). Until the cash stops flowing, I would tell him to keep telling his base what they want to hear. Assuming it is still flowing in 2024 (And he hasn't gone to jail and with Rudy as his head lawyer, what are the odds of that?) I would tell him to run again. That would increase the cash flow. And if he managed to win again, I would just retire. I'll be thirty by 2024, so it will be time to get out of the work game anyway. And since Trump has only been paying me $20,000 a day (The same thing he's reportedly paying Rudy) to be his advisor, I won't have much money but I'll get by. And to fill some of the empty time, I might even take the hosting job that FOX News has been offering me for the last 10 years. It only pays $12 million a year but for a retired person like me, it'll be fine.

@TheHorse I have an alternative offer. I'm going to be thirty so I won't be able to work five days a week anymore. That means I need a guest host to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I told my agent you might be interested and she said FOX would be fine with it (We'll come up with a clever subtitle for your nights, something like The Stupid Liberal Hour---oh, did I mention it's an hour-long show? I don't want to work that much, either, but they wouldn't go for a half-hour so I grudgingly agreed to the hour) if you're willing to take $12 million like I'm getting. Of course, you'll have to give her 10% and your own agent might insist on getting 10%, too, but what's new? Us old, white heterosexual Christian males never ever get a break. We get treated like this all the time.

I would do the same. Can I be the Liberal whipping boy guest on your FOX show? Of course I'll have to take a break from my two new jobs, cleaning headlights in parking lots and herding children into the basements of pizza parlors.

By the time 2024 rolls around we (conservatives) will have moved on. I do NOT think Trump will run, nor SHOULD run in 2024. What we need is to search for a young, charismatic republican who can deliver the message solidly. Right now there is no one I can think of. But I am keeping my eye out. I think Trump would lose in 2024 personally, even if I thought he should have won in 2020.

@porwest I disagree with you about Obama's presidency. I would describe it as "OK." I agree that Clinton I was a good president, in spite of his issues with keeping his underpanties up while in the Oval Office. But you know how I feel about "political correctness," and I think Obama bought into that sometimes. You also know way more about the Republican party that I do. What happened to John Kasich, former Governor of Ohio? I would have considered voting for him (I was not a Hilliary fan) in 2016, and even this year, had he gotten the nomination.

I think it would be cool in both the Republican and Democratic parties could find young, charismatic, and INTELLIGENT candidates who can deliver their respective messages clearly. Then those of us who follow them would be encouraged to have intelligent, responsible discussions about specifics, and not repeat bullshi*t memes like "Black Lives Matter" and "Make America Great Again."

@TheHorse But we need to be careful about those kinds of candidates as well. Obama was young and charismatic and could deliver his message. Unfortunately he was a lousy president. Trump was not young, not charismatic, had trouble delivering his message, but was a very good president. And i am not making that comment as a republican. I am making it as an observation of how effective their policies were. I always have to point out that I was a Clinton fan mostly, and mostly liked a lot of his policies. To me it is policy that matters most. But winning an election is sometimes about the other things I mentioned.
