There are so many businesses nowadays wherein we can earn a good amount of money every day or every month but your environment is not good as others who are just sitting in a chair and putting their feet on the table, but there are business wherein you can enjoy your day without a lot of stress but you'll not earn a lot like other who are doing a lot of things. If I'm going to answer with this and there's no answer in the middle. I rather choose a salary. Working hard in a not good environment might be challenging but it depends on the person if he or she will stay there for a long time. If you have plans then you can start your own business when you earned enough money

While I agree everyone needs a paycheck these days, it's worth weighing the risks. Sometimes, the paycheck isn't worth the toll on either physical or emotional or mental health. If an environment becomes too toxic, the pay isn't worth it. Set standards for yourself. There's no crime in doing so.

Working for others takes a lot of adjustment and sacrifices and you have to adapt for it to earn for a living. If you can't do that, start your own business and be the owner, the manager and the employee.

@Nakitakona Well starting your own business gives you a lot of pressure as well especially at the beginning. Do you have your own business?

It is always good to have good work ethics with fellow employees. Good camaraderie. The stress could be dealt with if the environment is healthy.
Having a self-employed business gives you the pleasure of doing things according to your wishes.
Don't worry much about the money. Just be sure that you are happy doing what you like. Money will materialize later on.

@tech40 Money is never enough if the expenditure tops the income.

@eileenleyva Yup, that is correct. If you're earning 5 digits per month then it is still enough, if you can earn 6 digits per month, still not enough because the higher salary you get, the higher expenses you should pay

It depends on person and situation. I prefer a good environment but yes the salary should not be so low that it doesn't meet my need. I can compromise on money as long as I am not too underpaid.

@arunima25 Indeed. There's always something that we'll miss when we're trying to fix everything.

Same here. I'd choose a high-paying salary even though the environment is less than ideal.

@tech40 I've had high-paying jobs that were stressful. The key is learning to not be affected by all the stress that is going on.

I wouldn't choose a job with a good environment if there isn't enough money to pay my bills. I wouldn't choose a high-paying job with a bad environment either. I have done that in that past, and I am not doing it again. It was extremely stressful, we had far too many clients and the environment was terrible. I did earn well, but as soon as I had enough money saved up I left. Most of my coworkers did the same.

Due to this pandemic, I plan to only stick to my job for as long as I can. The environment maybe not too great but the salary make me stay. So far they haven't miss paying us. I would love to have my own business, but capital is an issue, apart from the pandemic of course. So that would have to wait for a long time.

We cannot just jump into something without a capital. Unless we were born rich, we always need a job and it's up to us to be an employees for the rest of our life or save and start a business.

@tech40 So true. Work hard, spend less and save more so we can have capital for our business. Be patient and learn how to deal with the current situation no matter how difficult it may be.

It should be both. But hen if you live in the city with high criminal rate, and lack of proper garbage disposal it can be pretty difficuilt to work..
