The husband is no slouch either

I’ve written before about a lady who competes in endurance horse rides and has now won a special award for her efforts. Mostly we know very little about the riders unless you manage to have an indepth discussion with them at some point. I had an idea this lady’s husband was involved with the arts so what do you do when you want to know more? You google them.
It turns out her husband is a very successful sculptor and has had a number of exhibitions and won quite a few awards. One of the latest was a sculpture depicting Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) which was one of the pieces on show at Sculpture by the Sea 2020 held at Cottesloe Beach in Western Australia.
The work of contributing artists is displayed on the beach for the public to enjoy. I can’t find any of his work that is free to download but searching for ‘Geoff Overheu SAD’ brought up images of the piece. He is very talented although some of his pieces don’t do a lot for me.
As I don’t have an example of Geoff’s work, I’ve used another sculptor’s work in my photo This is Memorial to the Migrant Children, and the artists are Joan Walsh-Smith and Charles Smith.

It would be interesting to see a photo of the sculpture depicting sad but you at least tried.
That must be a feat moving the sculptures to different areas for the public to view them unless they start there once they're moved?

@JudyEv just did but only one sculpture came up. It says the two figured are depicting the same person in despair.

Did you try doing a search for 'Geoff Overheu SAD'? I typed that in the search bar and it came up instantly. I think the entries for the Sculpture on the Beach are done in their studios then transported to the area. They stay there for a month or so I think.

@MarshaMusselman That sounds like it. If you want to see more of his work, leave off the SAD and you should see more.

@JudyEv The Internet has been quite useful in opening doors for a lot of talented people. Writers, artists, musicians, you name it. Getting the word out these days is much easier than it has ever been. Of course, as many will attest, it's not an end all to be all. It's still HARD to get people to take a look and grab their attention. But it is still easier.

I think sculptors are so talented. Funny topic for an Ozzie sculptor though. Mostly SAD is a problem in Northern climes. They have a lot of it in Alaska.

@JudyEv I guess anybody living in a place where the seasons change can experience it. (shrugs)

Looked him up. And I must say I agree with you about his talent. The detail and realism in his sculptures are quite amazing indeed. Awards much deserved. Thanks for sharing.

I should think sculpting would be very difficult although of course if that's the talent you have then it probably seems easy. I've put the photo up before when I was talking about children being sent out from England during the war years.

Quite a nice sculpture. It's interesting who you get to know in your line of work.
