Hubby watches a reality type series, called Mountain Men. People roughing it. Living off the land. Building or improving their own shelters. Shows are in Alaska, Montana, Arkansas, and lots of other remote places that have mountains. We all know that these things are staged, unreal. So, after a bad storm or some such, some "mountain man" was repairing or building his home. Mind you, the house has no running water, no electricity. The builder was using a cordless electric drill/screw driver. Where does he charge it? Who knows, but we caught him. Just one example of things that "don't add up."

I do not like those reality shows. When I lived in Latvia at the end that was all that there was on TV plus of all things Argentinian soap opera I guess there were people who enjoyed them

I am not fond of reality shows, or soap operas. I guess that is why I do not watch much TV. Of course there is "news" but that is tiresome too.

I have seen many shows like that, they want to make you think they are building things like the primitive men and you spot modern tools.

Yes, one show even talked about the four sided iron nails from settlement days.

@GardenGerty I have heard so many stupidities in those shows... I have seen one in Italy where they recreated how pizza was made and they used tomatoes...goodness, do they know who brought tomatoes to Europe? Christopher Colombo !!!

Sometimes they are fun to watch but they are not really real.

@GardenGerty You are right. Some shows are good and some are bad depending on your viewpoint.

@GardenGerty You are right because there is no electricity so how can he use a drill?

We know it is all staged, as it is being filmed. They try to act naturally, though.

Never showed one. If they had one they could have a refrigerator and other things as well.

He probably build his own electric generator. Solar, water. Really self sufficient. Yeah, me and my imaginative mind. Now why didn't he use the basic stuff that powered by his own energy? Like screw driver or hammer?

In reality, that would be what he had to do. He was barely surviving and so did not really have the stuff to build alternatively powered generators.
