Do you save money on a weekly or monthly basis?

I always love reading posts about saving and frugal lifestyle. Am not an extravagant person but such posts inspire me so to continue what I do. One of my favorite topics is saving. Some people save everybody, others every month, while others, every quarter of the year. What about you? I do it every month:)

I am doing it on a daily basis with the help of an app. Although before, I am already saving the amount at home and would deposit it in the bank when it reached a certain threshold. But oftentimes, I would be forced to spend whatever amount I kept for some unexpected things. But now because of this app, I can save part of my daily income from my small business regularly. So, everyday, I would deposit 2 dollars.

We save daily. We try to get the best deals for quality items that we buy. When we use our debit cards to pay for things we have $1.50 deposited into our savings account. That adds us, little by little over time.

I try to save money each month (because I get paid monthly), and sometimes manage to put a little aside in between. I've always been good with money, although never previously had enough left over to save. I think that's why I'm doing well with savings now - my husband and I are both so used to having to carefully budget, often with more going out than coming in, that we still live frugally on a higher income. I kind of feel sorry for a friend of mine who recently lost her job. She'd always earned a good living and now suddenly thinks she can't manage and is somehow struggling on just her partner's wage - which is double my entire household income. I guess, if someone has always had what they need and more then it would seem difficult. I feel lucky that we can now afford to have a holiday every year - something I still see as a luxury.

@Janet357 I wouldn't say my friend lives 'extravagantly' as such, she's just never had any financial hardships. My husband says it surprises him when he asks how we're doing financially (as I'm mainly responsible for that sort of thing) and I say we're doing well! I must admit it's very strange to say it.

your friend lives extravagantly. And it will be a be a great adjustment for her. In your case, am glad that you know how to manage your finances. You may be frugal but you can still indulge in some luxuries. That's good

@LadyDuck I think olive oil is cheap there but here since we dont have olive trees, it is very expensive. It saddens me also because there are fake olive oil.

I try to be "cash flow positive" every month. But Covid has changed that.

I am retired now. I worked for over forty years and I managed to save every year. I lived comfortably but I still managed to have just enough for a retired life. I did not think in terms of weekly or monthly but I saved over a period of time.

It's monthly for me. I can't follow those example that keep certain kind of money and some sort. I got bills to pay and people to feed (cats too) Luckily the bank allows us to create a special account within the savings account. So I set for the money to be cut off at certain amount monthly. If I got more, I'll top up the amount.

We saved money out of every paycheck. We are retired now and it is a bit harder to come by extra money we can set aside, but we do every time we get unexpected money. I cannot imagine trying to be retired if we had not saved as much as we did. We do not need to work to survive and we would have to, had we been less willing to put money aside.

We have a lot of extra money left over after all bills are paid at the end of the month even after investing and giving to charities. The rest goes into our savings account.
