Working my brain cells today

My throat is a bit gunkier than usual- more than my typical dog allergy- hoping it is not a cold etc. (Hubby barely goes to work so could he bring a cold home?!) Enough detail there. I am looking at making a batch of bread today and later corn pancakes-fritters for supper. I will pair the corn cakes with lentil soup cause we have lentils. The main theme for my day is that it is December and far easier for me to stay off the frozen roads than to spend more money in a grocery store. This is why I stored food- for December and January. I even have a bag of dried egg stuff cause I know that our hens typically slow way way down on producing eggs in the winter. On I go: want to sleep. No. Get up and haul wheat flour from the freezer, warm some yeast and water and sugar and start stirring the slurry into bread dough. Lovely sunshine. I will also get going on writing up some Christmas cards cause I've joined a Christmas card send off to needy folks gig.

I'm glad you don't have to go out. We have at least 6" of snow on the ground. Brrrrr. Fresh baked bread is so good. My cards are all ready to mail.

I’m making cupcakes right now for my mother’s birthday. That’s sweet you and others are sending Christmas cards to the needy.

@NJChicca I don't mind making bread but I can tell that it is starting to work my shoulders and hands too much.

Hope you don't have a cold! Good that you stocked up . . . being that you live in snow, you know exactly what's needed to last you through the season. Oh, fresh homemade bread - that's something we want to try soon!

Smelling freshly baked bread reminds me of my Mom once she would bake bread once in a while,

I've never tried making bread but I'm sure it smells delicious while it's baking.

I hope you aren't getting a cold. Stay cozy and enjoy that bread. I'm going to make a frittata for dinner. Better get to work!

If you can avoid trudging out into the snow and ice that is definitely a good thing. So long as you have what you need.
