I Know I'm Going to Sound Cold-Hearted But ...

If you have been keeping up with the American news then you know there is a lot of buzz about an effective COVID-19 vaccine soon to be available. OK. We are settled that there is really a vaccine. (I mean ... not all of US. Some of US still don't trust the government or the media.) But let's say there is a real vaccine. The next question is: Who should get it? Obviously everybody should get vaccinated but how do we prioritize the groups who need it FIRST!! It's a heck of a triage question! Me personally, I say that the healthcare workers who are on the frontline should get it FIRST! After that, maybe teachers and school officials. I don't know. I'm not clear on who comes next. I don't know how to say this without sounding like I'm being cold-hearted but the question has come up. People are asking if the prison population should be pushed up on the totem pole for folks who should get vaccinated. Like I said … I don't know how to say without sounding like I'm being cold-hearted but … my answer is ... NO!!! Yell and scream at me all you want. But they should be some of the last ones on the list. And they should get the vaccine BEFORE … the folks who work at The White House who actually had the nerve to attend a Christmas party in a room full of people with no masks and no social distancing. I saw it on television!! To me … those White House folks deserve to be AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST! They deserve it!!! That's what I say. But! I'm not in charge.

I hadn't thought about the prisons but if they either aren't being visited our the visitors keep their distance and wear masks and same with the workers then they shouldn't be any more high risk than essential workers like in day grocery stores.

Definitely health-care workers first. Not only because they are at the front line and therefore most at risk, but also because they may spread it to other vulnerable people. People in prison - well they don't really get a chance to mix all that much, so their chances of getting it should be lower and also they should not be able to spread it either.

Biden has stated that the first responders will get the first vaccine available.

Maybe the elderly should be close to the top of the list...
