Is there really an afterlife?

2 years ago, I lost my dad to an accident. He was a really religious person and really taught us everything about our religion. I believe it and randomly, I asked God not to take my father away since I witnessed my cousins losing their dad. It was painful. But then 5 months after, he really did take my dad. Those moments I could say that I lost a little faith. But then sometimes my father would visit us in our dreams. I just want to know that he is really okay and that he is there just watching us.

No member on this site can answer the question as they're all still alive.

Yes, no one we know of has come back.

correction: I did, and came back; and no, there's nothing there. And anything people claim to see after they die & come back? It's a dream our amazing brains construct out of all the things we've experienced.

@mythociate If there’s nothing there, then how do you know that you went?

My personal take is our loved ones influence our lives in another energy form. However, we need to live an honorable life to benefit.

@Aquitaine24 Thanks, my parents are no more. My view is they are now in an unseen world from the seen world as of now for us. I think of them and take a view that I should hear my inner voice to do what will help them wherever they are - deeds or even thoughts will do.

Faith is personal. But even if we don´t believe in afterlife, there are always our memories.

I believe in the Afterlife most definitely. I have always been interested in it and have been ghost hunting many times..but I used stand when you say you lost some Faith when your passed..same happen to me. I have also smelt my dad after he was gone and I knew he was just saying hi..but be careful because demon's can act like loved ones as well.

@BlueLuna8 that's understandable, we all like to know/sense our loved ones after they have passed.

Well at sine point in our lives we have to let go of someone we love. The passing of your dad was really part of the cycle of life we have to let it go especially if his situation is harder here. I guess his showing in your dreams is a sign that he is saying he is in a better place now and you should start having the faith back again.

He's better than he could ever be in life. I know I sound like I'm "talking out of both sides of my mouth" here, because I'm also going to tell you that he no longer exists---that he's not 'watching over us' like as if "he was teletransported to the castle in the clouds and is watching with a telescope." What he did before---that is ALL HE IS now ... it built his reputation (and the world around him and all his relatives-&-associates), and that is his entire existence. If you like your memory of him when he was happy, that's him in Heaven. If you like your memory of him when he was expressing hurt, that's him elsewhere. 'Your memory' is where he lives, and if you don't think of him then he's "blissfully non-existent." 'Heaven & Hell' were invented so that our immature brains didn't obsess over someone being gone (the way babies think about their parents when they 'go to work').

No one knows for sure, it's up to you what to believe.

@Aquitaine24 Faith is something personal. Sometimes I think we can get help from the deceased ones we loved, but often I think that it's not at all true.

Afterlife! Yes it is definitely, so much so that one will never wish to return to this life again once gone hereafter. There are many arguments to this. It is an individual's personal belief. That's it

Why you want to know that. Are you planning something for that. Enjoy this life and let's don't think much about the afterlife.
