A Coincidence Happened

The house in the photo, which I borrowed from Google, holds many memories for us.
Hubby and I used to visit it with his childhood friend and his wife. The home belonged to her mother and her grandparents.
We rode horses from the stable, played golf on the 9-hole course, swam in the pool where a scene from the movie, The Secret of my Success was filmed, cooked and baked in the restaurant sized kitchen, and received all kinds of goodies from the upstairs hall wall of closets in grocery bags filled with Schick razors, Lubriderm lotion, Rolaids, Trident Gum, and anything else Warner Lambert/Parke Davis made.
Hubs and I took a walk earlier this morning and recounted the fun times there. When our friend’s mother passed away, the entire house and grounds were donated to the town and became known as the Lasdon Park and Arboretum in Katonah, New York.
As soon as we returned from our walk, I answered the house phone that was ringing. It was my husband’s childhood friend. We talked for hours! What a coincidence!

What good memories you and hubs have, from spending time at this lovely home:) What a coincidence that his friend called, right after you reminisced about this

@DianneN I've thought about people I haven't seen in a long time. Then suddenly, I see them in their vehicle or walking down the street It's eerie, I certainly don't understand

It is good to still be in touch with childhood friends. I have lost contact with almost all. Some college colleagues and one 12th Standard classmate is still in contact.

That is one big house. There are two houses here on the lake that are like that. (not in my development although a couple are pretty big) I thought at first they were building hotels. I would hate to heat that thing in the winter!

I do believe in coincidences... have no idea how they work, but they do have a way of showing up when we least expect them to!

@sallypup Some people have all the luck. Grandpa worked heard, but I know they were very generous. Her mother was a philanthropist and did a lot for the arts and hospitals. She had a wing built on Cornell-Weil hospital in New York. She actually invited my older son to her apartment on Park Avenue with all the Rembrandts to interview him when she heard he was applying to Cornell University. She wanted to make sure he was a good match for the school. Nervy, but he was accepted anyway.

@DianneN My goodness. So who lives in that house now? Is it a guest house now?

What wonderful memories and certainly a coincidence that you got a phone call from that friend. Isn't it funny how that works sometimes

@DianneN i used to work in a restaurant that was an old mansion converted. it had so much history! One night we were cleaning the walls and found a depressed switch. We pushed it back in, and heard a creak. There was an old prohibition bar hidden behind the false wall!
