I'm backkk! Well, it's "about time" I did a song version with a "time theme." lol I've seen other music posts using "the hands of time" and hopefully I can measure up with a list of tunes just as good. So here goes, "Tick Tock"..... Time can expressed in many ways. For today's quiz titles will use those hands on the clock to refer to "what time it is." And in this tune by Gary US Bonds the hour is late, a "Quarter To Three." Wow! Classic Oldie and a early morning danceathon partying to the beat of that saxophone. Three cheers! And now let's turn our attention to see what other times we'll be partying to... Do you know these songs and artists: Whodunnit? 1. This band has the same name as a "city in Illinois." When the group shortened there name due to an objection by that city's "transit authority," they started putting "Roman numerals after their name" on each album. This 1970 song about time is from the group's II LP and was written a bit before "4" in the morning. With lyric references to "Waiting for the break of day and Searching for something to say" the writer was describing the process of putting together his song. This tune quickly became a showcase song for the band's horn section, which were featured on many of their hits from the '60s and '70s. The self-described "rock and roll band with horns" blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, and pop music. The group began writing songs with politically charged lyrics, and later moved to a softer sound. This group also wrote another song about time without using #'s in the title. Who would of thought this top ten song was inspired by the songwriter looking at his watch in the middle of the night... -Do you know the name of this song which uses a time in the late night/early morning hours as their song title? And the name of this horn-based Rock band from the late 60's who is still a performing act? 2. Another song with a # in the title, this top ten hit was released in 1965. This "vocal quartet" was from Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania. The group formed in 1958 and their early jigs were rock and roll shows and record hops booked along with other acts like the Drifters, the Platters, and the Dells. Their song about time was their "best-known song," but they placed three others in the US Top 10: "You're The One" (#4, 1965), "Turn Around, Look At Me" (#7, 1968), and "My Special Angel" (#7, 1968, also a #1 Adult Contemporary hit). In today's quiz song, the singer works hard all day to earn a living, but he "comes alive" at the usual "quitting time" for most "jobs that begin at 9AM." As the singer says in this song "when the whistle blows, No-one owns a piece of my time." And there's "a long-haired girl who waits, I know, To ease my troubled mind, yeah!" -Do you know the name of this time-titled song and the vocal group who recorded this # 4 1960's hit? 3. Bonus: In the song "Quarter to Three" sung by Gary US Bonds he is dancing to a saxophone player that goes by the "cool name" of __________________. -Do you know the name of the saxophone player in this song? If not, give the song another listen. It's in the lyrics, Ok, "time's a wastin." Let's solve the song and artist answers. Remember, a time theme is part of the song title. If your stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or as the band Jefferson Starship might say, you can "Count On Me" for some help. Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! Until next Saturday... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com Photo- whatthefaculty.com

1. I'm thinking Chicago and guessing Does Anyone Really Know What Time It Is. But it doesn't seem to be the one you're looking for. Do they have a song titled Wednesday Morning 3 AM? 2. I'm thinking The Vogues and guessing Quitting Time At Five? 3. ?

Some creative answers You got the 2 bands Chicago had another time song called "25 or 6 to 4." #2 Many jobs run from 9 to Five which is the time in this song. Added to the rest of the title which is a word which defines all the countries of the earth and you have the complete answer. Bonus- just play the video song and listen for the sax player's name.. Any guesses now?

#1 I only know one band in Illinois named after a city - Chicago. I don't know any of their music, so no clue about the song. Bonus - can't listen to the song. I get a message screen that something went wrong.

@just4him They also did the song "Turn Around Look At Me." A wonderful vocal group.
The Vogues live in concert. In 1968, vocal group released their remake of Turn Around, Look At Me. This is the song's most successful single, reaching #7 on...

1. That would be, as JJ refers to it, 3:35 or 3:36. And if they had named themselves after JJ’s town they could have remained the Olney Transit Authority! Wonder if they took offense to Jim Croce saying something about the south side of Chicago..... 2. Is it en Vogues to talk about a Five O’Clock World at 8:30 in the evening?

To answer your question about the band from Illinois it would be "Chicago" which was originally named "Chicago Transit Authority" before they had to change their name according to a music channel that played their songs on cable television.
