And to Think

Exactly one year ago today we arrived for what we thought would be 6 months and one day of our residency in Florida.
We love it there and love the weather, our friends, and the paradise lifestyle.
Who could have imagined we had to leave early in May, drive 1400+/miles home instead of flying without stopping except for gas and one bathroom break, all due to covidiots and Covid?
Oh, well. Perhaps we can return next year at this time. And the most shocking of all is that my husband told me tonight that he misses Florida! Yes, the man who bought a condo because he knew how much I loved Florida, when he wasn’t a fan of it.
Go figure!
We shall survive the winter in Connecticut somehow.

The world is upside down and inside out right now. I feel for those who have no place to go or are facing losing their shelter right after Christmas. I hope you get to return to Florida. I hope I get to return to the southwest side of my state next year and attempt to figure out a yes or no answer to my own puzzle.

One winter in Connecticut will help both of you, appreciate what Florida has to offer, more I told Jay, that Florida has never been a state that appeals to me. Now, this has totally changed!

@kobesbuddy All my men love cool weather, but we are lucky to live on the water and to have a house to return to when it gets hot and humid there in the summer. It gets hot and humid in Connecticut, too, in the summer.

@DianneN Jay hated winters in Michigan. Now, he doesn't want to move south, the heat bothers him more than cold weather.

What a bizarre year . . . exactly one year ago today we never, ever thought in our wildest dreams that we would be having a year like this! I sure hope next year will take us through better times . . . getting us back to normalcy . . . getting you guys back to FL! I know you will make the best of wintery CT .

Yes it is better to stay where you are than risking during a flight.

I had no idea you were in India! Are you there because of visit family or on vacation? How long have you been stuck there?
If we hadn’t shipped down our car last year to have in Florida, we would have been stranded there, too.
So sorry for your predicament.

@DianneN I was visiting India often as my mom was sick for years.
As her condition was getting worse, we came down end of February. She passed on in May.
We would have returned within a month but flights are restricted and more than that the quarantine period of 14 days. Not to mention the virus risks during the travel.
As we have an apartment here too, we are not inconvenienced.
Then what the hell. I AM RETIRED.
So the predicament is sweet and sour!!!

Florida is home to many retirees. The only problem with Florida are the hurricanes. But people have learned to live with that.

That's a long way to go with only one toilet break. I'd like to know more about Florida because I've never been there.
