I am learning two languages: Dutch and Scottish Gaelic. I am learning Dutch because of my family history. I am studying Scottish Gaelic because I have friends in Scotland. As a good friend, I want to learn their native language to understand them better.
Languages help us connect with one another, which is crucial for today's world. I heard it is important to learn another language so we can improve in our own native language. My writing skills in English have extremely improved from learning another language.
This is not an overnight accomplishment. Luckily, I have been blessed with helpful friends and a large amount of resources for the work ahead.
What languages do you know? Are there any that you want to learn?

@MintyFreshBaby that is nice! I am contemplating if I will subscribe on an ebook for languages or just look for it online. My daughter wants to study the Japanese language. What do you think?

@rakski Honestly I do recommend Duolingo to start and see if she wants to continue after getting through the different skill sets.
I also recommend this website to find more helpful resources for your daughter!
I wish her the best of luck :)

I study both languages through self study (duolingo, sources I found online, books etc). However for Scots Gaelic I have friends who natively speak the language so I can ask them whenever I mess up, or if my notes are correct.

I know some French and some Spanish. I never kept up on either since I graduated high school.

@MintyFreshBaby I just chose not to. I didn't want to take Spanish in the first place, and what French I know I learned from French-speaking students.
