Is Covid going to take years?

On 1918 my late grandma was a baby. That was 102 years ago and it is the year when the Spanish flu outbreak happened. When this worldwide lockdown happened, airlines are not common yet but the virus still spreads worldwide and lasted 3 years. The world is still have international travels and people still go outside. This makes me think that the Pandemic might last for years. months ago media estimated that Covid 19 will have vaccine in June and the pandemic will end but with how things go. Covid 19 Pandemic might last as long as Spanish flu or worst even last longer. Many teens will never experience proms and graduations. I do want this to end as fast as possible but covid might take years like Spanish flu.
The pandemic of H1N1 virus in 1918 infected about one-third of the world's population, causing at least 50 million deaths, including more than a half-million...

There seem to be some indications that, if one has acquired immunity from Covid-19, either by having had and recovered from it or by taking the vaccine, it may not be permanent and so there is a possibility that one may catch it a second time. If that is the case, then it will certainly be with us for a long time. Although Covid-19 is said to be less infectious than influenza and (overall) one is less likely to die from it than the Spanish 'flu, it is a new virus and is mutating rather fast, so it is likely to be a force to be reckoned with for a long time.

@owlwings In our region, we already have many "second time" cases of Covid and several who recovered but they continue to be "positive", one 38 years old woman is quarantining from 8 months, not a funny life.

I'm guessing we get to learn to adjust with CoViD-19 still lingering in our midst.

@CaptAlbertWhisker yeah, but I read that in some places, lockdown has been effect and people are strongly discouraged to go out of their homes.

At least people are now allowed to go outside as long as they wear mask.

My father was born in 1917 and his mother always told me about the Spanish Flu, they lived in Milan, where the problem was very serious. Never a cure or a vaccine was found for the Spanish Flu...

I heard US suffered the most with Spanish flu because of media blackout which happened in China.

My great-grandfather was a teenager during the Spanish flu, but he never talked much about it. I think that COVID-19 will last for a long time. We all want it to end soon, but unfortunately I don't think that is realistic.

with all those stubborn people who refuse to wear mask and politicians who don't make international travel ban, it won't end fast enough

It could be longer even with the vaccines. In fact the vaccines may not even be useful against those strains that had mutated.

I crave to go back to normal but I will only get out of my house if there is an emergency. I buy food and groceries online now.
