It’s been quite a week for us, and to those who checked in on my welfare and to wish me a Happy Hanukkah, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Last weekend polished me off. I’ve been online, texting, and on the phone, beginning with our older son’s birthday on December 6th. I’ve also been horseback riding every day.
He was in Pennsylvania all weekend with our grandson, who was invited to be goalie for a team in upstate New York. He won all three games!
We spoke to our son while he was in the car driving back home to New Jersey. We spoke and FaceTimed once he returned home. My granddaughter and her mom made dinner for our son and the New York Giants won a football game just for him to make his birthday extra special. Birthdays are such a big deal in our family. We were there in spirit.
Our Ice Princess is now in the process of learning triple jumps. I’ve been on the phone with her every night this week.
It’s Friday date night and Hanukkah for us, so it’s been an extra special date night.
I will have more time to interact with you and let you know, bit by bit, about my crazy happy week.
~I feel like Mittens the cat in the photo. Very content in front of the fireplace except I have a martini and hubs will order dinner tonight!~

Missed you! We were happy he had such a wonderful weekend. Normally, we would have been in FL, but it was nice being in the “area” for his birthday.
The Ice Princess had some hairline fractures in her foot when she was wearing the boot. No one tells me anything, because they don’t want to worry me. Now, I see their point. She’s doing the jumps in a harness and on the ice. I should have a head of gray hair by now!

@DianneN When you mentioned she's learning triple spins, I thought about her fractures! It's scary, imagining the pain she could possibly experience. She is a very determined little lady

@DianneN All of those fractures, I pray that she heals up quickly, with the least amount of pain!

I love your posts as I love your life. I have had all the fun I could this last weekend in spite of my swollen feet. I think that it was the altitude. But the greatness of the Andes made up for that.

@DianneN I felt the same way when I returned after disappearing for years at a time. But, I need the money and most of the people are decent. A few have blocked me, but it is what it is.

@DianneN Hanukkah although children enjoy the teats and 8 days of gift giving is a holiday time to celebrate the miracle God gave when one day of holy oil last for 8 days when the temple was cleansed and rededicated after the maccabees reclaimed the temple from Israels enemies as it took 8 days to make the holy oil for the temple which is the beauty of the holiday

I hope GD enjoys triples. I want to see videos of her falls. That is how we learn. As for GS, I'm glad he won three in a row. But I want to be sure he deals with those rough nights (I've had routine ground balls "come up" and hit me in the nuts) with dignity and class, unlike those who struggle with rough moments. I think you get my (political) drift.

@DianneN Losing with grace is important. You know that I've won many softball championships. But I've also lost many games. Nobody wins always. "That man" is a disgrace to American values (including competition and striving to do well) and to the "art of losing."

GD loves skating and has been itching to learn triple jumps. Doing the triple salchow now. She learns them in a harness first and will probably fall a lot. They all fall.
GS wins just about every game he plays in. That's why other teams call him in to be their goalie. I hope he never gets hit there. I think he's protected from head to foot.
Yes, I got your drift. I can't believe the gall of that man!

Happy Hanukkah!
Don't remember the last time I had a martini. I hate vodka though so perhaps that's not surprising.
Wow! Triple jumps must be exciting but scary... How is she doing on those?

Happy Hanukkah to you, too!
I’m having a vodka martini now, but I also enjoy a gin martini. I’m flying high right now.
She is doing great so far. She begins with a harness and then hits the ice. I’m so proud of her. It’s definitely a requirement that she needs to master at her level. Hopefully, she will have it down by the end of January when she has to show her stuff in Lake Placid.

@DianneN Kudos to her. I'd be super scared to even attempt something like that. Cool about the Lake Placid thing. That's awesome. Hopefully, she will have that jump down.

@DianneN - Hi Dianne! Things have gone very well, considering we are in a pandemic. Our daughter in Delaware and our daughter in Hastings, New York both cancelled trips here this summer, which was necessary, but unfortunate. We also saw very little of our daughter in Napa, CA. Otherwise, our life has been fine, my husband's health has been stable, and we have managed to see our local daughter and her family frequently. All in all, things have been good. I hope the same is true for you, as well!

@DeborahDiane Thanks for letting me know. I'm most happy to hear about your husband. Otherwise, life has changed drastically for us, too. We are lucky our younger son lives 1.8 miles up the street from us. He often visits wearing a mask and is seriously dating a lovely French girl. We did have social distancing parties here a few times with them outdoors, and our older son, DIL, and grandkids came for 2 visits. Otherwise, things have been quiet and good. No Florida for us this winter, however. Just trying to remain safe and smart!
