Hard Lockdown: Wait,… What?!!!

I arrived at the office full of hope that our situation will get better nearly as possible although, I have doubts that it’s not going to be earlier what we would or should like to be. I’ve heard from the TV news this morning the WHO announcement about the new variant of Covid19 in England. But, life must go on despite the odds this life we are experiencing right now. And then some bad news that doesn’t really sit well to my hearings welcomes me. A colleague said that he heard on a radio broadcast that our city will be place to a “hard lockdown” during the entire Holiday season beginning tomorrow. Goodness! I wished it’s not true. Why put the situation haphazardly like that by the local implementing authorities? I wouldn’t like to believe it’s true. Our city is currently under a general community quarantine rules of restriction and that order was from the National authorities themselves. I understand the local authorities fear if people cannot be controlled but if the news was really true, I can only say that it’s a quick decision that must be reviewed. I’m just an ordinary citizen but having to stop working again because of that order is no good.

the news in UK also cause us to be anxious because my brother works there. here in my city, our place is also given the go-signal to be on strict lock down that is why my sister always communicates with my 2 older brothers about their coming home for Christmas.

Let's follow the development over this news. I think we can't afford to have another scare in the middle of this pandemic.

@ridingbet I hope they have a change of mind. If I were on their shoes, I won't because following the health and safety protocols from place-to-place is just a burden on my part. I can't imagine to be place under a quarantine period of 14 days if that requires me when I go another places. And getting those necessary permits? Yikes!

Seems like everyone is bracing for the holidays that they are afraid that people will be going around and be merry this Christmas. I do not think we need to have hard lockdowns anymore since I know people have somehow adapted to the situation and only few are really hard headed that they will still do the usual Christmas traditions. But I guess without hard lockdown most people will avoid getting our and mignling with large crowds as they already know it.

@ZedSmart True most are already obedient to the existing policies the authorities just need to be extra vigilant to violators.

@rsa101 Honestly, I'm more afraid of surviving without an income. A temporary closure of non-essential establishments for another duration is not a good blow to the already struggling people.

I agree. I think they can reconsider. I think the existing policies are enough and then only punish the violators if caught if they're really performing their duties.

The cases have started increasing world over may be the effect of winter and genetic modification of the virus to suit the conditions it is in. I am not sure how useful are the lockdowns but they are certainly bad for economy.

I'm more worried if work will be put to stop again because of the limitations.

I do hope your colleague has got the information wrong. It will not be a festive season at all if you have a hard lockdown.

I'd like to verify the information because I can't believe that it's going to be like that Ms. Judy. I was searching at the FB page of the city's information office and I can't see any posts verifying such information.

Is that mean you can't go out at all? Apparently my country is the only relax country. As long as you wear mask, you are okay. We never applied lockdown.
