My sister emailed me last night and said they had hit a deer. I mentioned on here last night on Valerie's thankful post, I was thankful that the accident wasn't worse. She was with her husband and he was driving. I don't know if their son was with them or not, but they think the deer jumped the jersey wall. Fortunately, only their headlights were damaged. In the past, she has totaled her car twice with deer accidents, but fortunately was never injured. Deer crashes can be the cause of automotive fatalities so really good thing it wasn't worse!

Yes, I told her she should put deer whistles on her car. I have hardly seen any since I started using them. She said in this case it wouldn't have helped since it just jumped over a wall..I think to avoid getting hit by another vehicle.

I am so glad it wasn't worse than that.
One time a few years ago a deer jumped in front of us and our car clipped it's antlers.

They can be hazards for sure. I had one actaully run into my car once and bounce off. Last year, I had to brake hard to avoid hitting one, and had to get my brake line fixed. I jumped on those brakes..but luckily did not hit the deer.

@snowy22315 We don't see a lot laying on the side of the road around here, but they are around as we've seen them in the middle of our street before.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It is a fairly routine sight here unfortunately.

Yes, but it could have been much worse. Even totalling the vehicle would have been a real pain.

i hope not she has had more than her fair share. In this case, I think the deer ran away so it may have lived through the ordeal.

I'm glad your sister and husband weren't hurt. Deer are notorious for running in front of cars here. It doesn't matter if it's the highway or an ordinary road. That's why I'm always worried about my daughter driving back & forth to work in the early morning and when its dusk.

Yes, you are right to be worried. PA seems to have an overabundance of deer.
