I've recently discovered the kind of little poem called a Haiku. They're great fun to write and anyone can have a go. I looked it up in the online dictionary and it says that it's a kind of tiny poem -- just three lines and seventeen syllables -- that is usually about or inspired by the natural world. It has a fixed structure so that the first and third lines must have exactly five syllables and the middle, second line, exactly seven. Getting the syllables right and still saying what you wanted to say can be tricky. But that's part of the challenge! Here's an example of one of mine: Deep winter woodland A distant echo flutters above the birdsong Want to join in? Have a go! You can add the haiku tag to your post.

That's great, M.-L. Thank you! I don't think we can have too many haikus!

Nice. Welcome to myLot. I'm no Haiku expert myself, I just like trying them.

Thank you, Stacey! I'm really enjoying trying out Haiku, too. Or is it Haikus? Anyway. Thanks for being so kind.
