As of last midnight the Netherlands is in semi lockdown again.
Only necessary shops like supermarkets, pharmacies etc. are open, the rest will be closed until January 19. Schools are closed too.
I think it's the best solution, hard for many, but still a good thing.

The US does it a bit differently. We go state by state and county by count. Most of the US closed down in March and schools closed too except for essential businesses that is. We were closed until I think May or June I don't remember now but people here are such jerks about it. I get it in a way though because small businesses here can't stay afloat if they're closed but they are also being jerks about the mask mandate and taking it out on people who are being forced to enforce it. Schools here are going based on district. Our district has been doing online learning since March but plan to go back to a hybrid model in January if things start to slow down where they will send half of the kids two days a week and the other half the other two days and then do one day of all online learning. Other schools are going 5 days a week and some are doing hybrid. Every country is doing it differently it seems but with the US each individual state does things differently.

I think that's one reason why the US hasn't done well in controlling the outbreak. At the start of the pandemic, our Prime Minister (nearest thing we have to a President) called all the State leaders to a meeting and they all agreed to a joint policy that everyone would follow.
Our State leaders are famous for disagreeing with each other and especially disagreeing with the Federal government, so when they all came out saying the exact same things, I think it was a powerful message.
Since then, the State leaders have started fighting with each other again, but they hung together long enough to make good progress.

This is similar to parts of Indonesia, especially in big cities where the number of Covid infections continues to rise. There is no other choice it seems.
